I'm not seeing changes here, so I guess because I have a custom theme? Or will mine go poof as well? I never pay much attention to LJ goings on and only hear about it when my f'list explodes.

Dude, I have not caught wind of anything....will be watching. You aren't talking about FB, have you? That is making more changes, I guess.

Oh wait....some people's reply boxes allow for inserting a photo, etc. I don't see it in yours, though.

This is even worse than the complaints about linking Facebook and Twitter with LJ. This change they've implemented has broken the basic usability of comments - there's no more subject line in comments, no preview button, no parent or thread buttons, and while it's now focused on the default site scheme and comment pages, it seems they want to implement it to the entire site. There are screencaps of the planned changes, and the company working on them has posted mock-ups to show what LJ of the future will look like. Let me see if I can find a link.

Here it is:

Have a look and tell me what you think.

I think it would be helpful if it were in English. ;-P

The bets I can do is offer you the link run through Google translate. While my native language is a Slavic one, I don't speak Russian.

http://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=n&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&layout=2&eotf=1&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.artlebedev.ru%2Feverything%2Flivejournal%2Fprototype%2F

And here's another post from a different user with screencaps:

I'm not seeing any changes when trying to comment. *shrugs* Who knows.

When I left a comment in the XKCD feed today I noticed that the comment box was completely different. Instead of a drop down menu for user pic, it shows the default and you have to click on the arrow. Then a window with all you user pics pops up. I'm not sure how I feel about that.

RPers have been complaining about that, because some of them have hundreds of icons. Imagine having to go through all those icons, and they are sorted by when they were uploaded, not alphabetically.

There's also no preview button anymore for default comment pages, and no subject lines for comments.

I knew there were other things missing, but I was commenting on the fly and didn't have time to figure it out.

Yet again, LJ launches a half-assed "improvement" that only serves to piss off its users.

Well I can see the comments have changed, as everyone else has no doubt mentioned. And I've been having some trouble with my one page, as far as formatting goes -- it just flies out the window.

Don't know if it's the changes, or another DDOS attack, but it took me about thirty minutes to get LJ to come up. It's just getting ridiculous.

Reading the above, it sounds like the changes are what LJ used to be like before they added that stuff. I hardly used any of it myself, but I know tons of people do, so it doesn't affect me personally. I think the only addition to LJ that I couldn't live without was the LJ CUT coding.

Yes. Right now, if borks with the simplified comment pages (which, uh, were one of the things I still LIKED about LJ.) but it eventually will roll through all layouts. It's such a clusterfuck that LJ's news post on the rollout? About 7500 comments at last I looked and pretty much all of them were a variation on "NO".

At the tone the total number of comments for that news post is - 9613. Yeah, the joy just keeps on spreading. *Rolls eyes.*

My own journal is the same, but I'v noticed differences in the comment boxes at [livejournal.com profile] hlh_shortcuts. Not that big a deal to me. Just on how you choose your user pic.
