I adore the RDJ Sherlock Holmes movies, and if I hadn't been sicker than a dog the week Game of Shadows came out, I'd have seen it more than the once I have so far! Was wondering if anyone had any fic recs? I don't read a lot of fic anymore, but have had a bit of an urge lately for Holmes fic, and most of what I'm finding is slash. I'm particularly keen to find friendship fic that captures that feeling from the movies. Looking for gen Homes & Watson for the most part, though fic that incorporates Mary and/or Irene would be terrific as well. Any rating.

You can also try great_tales, violinandwatch and sherlockhet. These are more present day Sherlock fics so you'll need to do a bit of a search for the RDJ & JL ones. They are there. There's also no slash on these sites.

If you care for the present day Sherlock fics, I highly recommend Richefic's work over at FF.N as well.

Sorry, I'm dense this morning, so not sure I understand.

As in, is it nonslash because it's handy to have a safe space for nonslash, or is it nonslash because gay people are yucky (and progressing from there).

I understand it's hard to be completely nonhet w/o pretending no canonical relationships exist; but I also feel that way about demanding things completely nonslash, in that I do read the sexuality of some default!straight characters as being complex, and write them that way, even when there are no overt relationships in a story (most of my fic is very gen!).
