ithildin: (Iron Man - Burn Out)
For the last few weeks, the open cut function hasn't been working on LJ, and now they have the new scissor thing, it still's broken, except in a different way. Now that's a function I use a lot, and I haven't been happy having to open all those cut links in new tabs, instead of being able to read the entire entry on my friends page. Now, I've been considering using DW as my posting platform, but there's still the issue of the name of the journal I'm reading on my flist there not appearing. Haven't been able to figure out how to fix it (I'm using a custom stylesheet and have found fixes for most things, but not that), also, the majority of my flist, I think, is still on LJ, so that doesn't help with the cut tags not working. I'm not sure how sensible it is to use DW to post, and LJ to read my flist. Like I said, quandary. And there's no mobile version of DW, so would still have to use LJ during the work day. [sigh] I just want simple. Doesn't seem possible.

Have you seen the shortcut to add to your CSS style sheet to do away with the scissors? Maybe that will help with the whole LJ-cut in a different tab issue.

I have, but since it wasn't working before they 'fixed' it. I haven't tried yet.

I used it on mine and I don't have scissors and the lj-cut doesn't go into a different tab.

No, mine doesn't go into another tab. What happens is that instead of expanding the cut, it creates a huge blank space, and nothing else, or it just spools. I open the link in new tabs now so I can read the post.

Ah, okay, now I get it. That's annoying. :(

I have to admit not being sure what you're talking about. When I want to do a LJ Cut, I always go to Help and copy the code. I never bother with their buttons and stuff for anything.

I'm talking about reading my flist, and the fact the expand cut function no longer works.

I'm having the same problem. I used to be able to expand cut-tags using LJ addons (9.5) but it broke a while back and now I have the same problem as you. I think the first break was with a firefox upgrade but I wouldn't swear to it.

I agree completely -- I just want to read on my flist page! Bah!

It shouldn't be this hard!

And copying my comments from another post:
I didn't realize it was an LJ addon function. I can expand cuts on DW with no problem, and don't use LJ addon there. Odd.

Ahhh! That one I can explain. DW has 'expand cut-tags' as built-in functionality. So you automatically get the little expander triangle next to the tag without needing to do anything (I'm not sure whether everyone gets it or just paid accounts, though :).
