My brother got a job!! God, it's been a long two years. I am so relieved, I can not tell you. Nin and I had been supporting most of the household since his and mum's benefits ran out, and the stress has been overwhelming. The job is part time, seasonal (9 months a year), but it's the best one can expect these days, it would seem. I'll take some money over no money though. It's hard work: landscaping for the county parks, especially with the heat here, so I hope it's not too much for him at his age. Prayers and good thoughts most welcome. Thank you to everyone who has been so supportive through all of this. It has been appreciated more than you know.

Cool. So you are buying him a camelbak (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CamelBak) so he always has water with him, right?

Camelbaks are truly awesome. Esp when the water within has been frozen overnight :)

No, the trucks have big water coolers on them, so he's set.

Our truck had one of those 5 gallon water coolers on it also, but its does nothing to help you when you are away from the truck and not on break.

Being away from the truck is what led to my "almost" heat stroke even if I was carrying a 1/2 liter water bottle.

I have since learned that when its hot enough, if you aren't sweating, you aren't drinking enough water.

He's a grownup and since I won't be on the job site with him, I can't really monitor what he does and doesn't do. We live in the desert, and heat safety is a big deal on all job sites, not to mention just daily life.. Not really sure what you expect me to do - can't go to work with him. Honestly, he's not stupid. He's had heat stroke, he knows to be careful. I'm already worried about him having an outdoor job, and really, don't need the extra helping of fear.
