So far, I'm enjoying Holby City. But it's a little different than I expected. From what I'd heard going in, and in reading the BBC website, I was expecting it to be wall to wall sex. However, the four episodes I've seen so far have been sex free. For example, the little bio of the character Ric has a long line of love interests listed, both women and men, nine kids, and yet so far, the most I've seen is a patient asking him out for a drink. About the most action anyone seems to have gotten was Abra taking the nurse-who's-name-I-don't-remember out for breakfast. Not quite sure what to make of this, especially since there were certain expectations for what Mr. Clifford was going to be getting up to once he appeared. Are we going to be quite disappointed in that regard? If what I've seen so far is any indication, we just might be.

Le sigh, le weep, le boo hoo!

Please tell me, my across the Atlantic sisters, that there's still hope? That somewhere in the future there's a few good steamy scenes to be had! I await your replies with hope in my heart.

(yeah, I'm just a wee bit goofy this afternoon)(could you tell?)

Steamy? Holby City? Er, I dunno. I haven't watched it for years (will be starting again shortly...). My mother likes it, so make of that what you will.

On the plus side, despite being in her mid-sixties my mother admitted to finding a sixteen years old actor attractive, and merely laughed when I told her she's a dirty old woman.

Actually, I doubt there'll be much raunch given the pre-watershed time-slot. Which means kissing is fine, possibly some partially clothed bedroom scenes, but not much more than that.

You've totally crushed my spirit, I hope you realize that [g]

[pouts muchly]

See, we have this impression over here that TV over there is much er, raunchier, but it just doesn't seem to be panning out that way! It's a real blow, let me tell you.

Oh well, I guess I'll get over it [g]

Oh, some TV is pretty raunchy, but not the stuff that's on pre-watershed - that is before 9pm. Holby City is shown at 8pm, and is therefore classified as family viewing. Which means no explicit sex scenes and only mild swearing.

Sorry to disappoint but maybe Peter will get a role in a post-watershed drama in the future...

Ditto on the pre-watershed - if it's on before 9pm it must be suitable for kiddywinks, so Holby will always be tame unless you're into finding subtext that may or may not exist. Naughtiness is generally of the professional variety (e.g. Abra's questionable ethics) rather than bedroom golf. Slice n dice, anyone?

Actually, I didn't expect it to be especially steamy. In some ways, I think American television is much more racy. \

I'll just be happy to see Pete weekly and thrilled that he's got regular work.

Yeah, me too. I was just being silly, and was trying to be funny. Something I should refrain from since I don't do it very well.

Awww you do funny just fine. Actually I would be thrilled if Peter would pull it all out so to speak and do a really racy scene. With a good looking male doctor or nurse would be even better.

But I don't think it's happening any time soon.

Nin's the funny one in my house. I just try. :)

Seems like HC is like General Hospital in that if you read character bios and the show history, it comes off as a lot more racy than it actually is. For a daily soap opera GH contains very little sex or infidelity. They save sex scenes for sweeps months [g] And then I fast forward through them anyway looking for the stuff that moves the plot along. I'm not funny and I'm boring!

As for good looking male doctor, maybe there's hope -- Ric has a guy listed on his love interests. So you never know!

*g* start a campaign for PW to join ITV's Emmerdale (http://www.itv.com/page.asp?partid=111) - it's set in a small village full of gossips, dodgy bastards and supposedly nice farmers. They might not be able to show the sex and literal back-stabbing, but the subtext is blatent :)

(hmm.. a bit like the Archers then, and he was already in that..)

Or bring Simon Pemberton back to Ambridge and watch the fur fly :)

I must agree steamy and HC do not seem to go (although I have not watched for a while) tuned in last episode but no Peter :(

You might lobby for him to join Torchwood but then I just might explode from the pretty of PW and JB!
