Overall, I really did enjoy this episode. But the same complaint: when will we get an episode about Jack?

I think most of my problem with loving this show is that I really don't care one way or the other about any of the team. The only one I actually like is Gwen. As far as the big pairing of Jack and Ianto, IMHO they have absolutely zero chemistry. It leaves me not caring what happens with it all.

Maybe if it gets picked up for another series, they'll add some characters I'll actually like and have some sort of emotional investment in. Or not.

At least I'm not the only one who liked this ep. All the fan forums are blowing up with "how boring!" just because it wasn't non-stop action or UST (which I enjoy as well, mind you), but I liked that it focused on normal human (non-canibal) issues, like the relationship with his father, etc. The relationships in Eugene's life were real & something an audiance could connect with, and I think it was good to bring the show back down to Earth for a moment. Next week will be back to gratuitous sex as usual.

As for when we'll gt some Jack-centric eps, supposedly in 2 weeks, and theoreticly a bit in next week's ep as well. Can't say more without giving spoilers (for those who wish to avoid such), but here's to hoping.

As far as the Ianto/Jack pairing, let's agree to disagree? Mainly because I've decided I want a pet Ianto, and want any kind of plot where I get more of him...I will hold him, and squeeze him, and call him George 0:-) I'll stash him in the closet with my Pocket Horsemen...

I quite enjoyed it but was worried about how they would end it. I hope we get a Jack centric ep soon too (it looks like next week could be Jack and Owen centric)

I also would like a pocket Ianto :) I was chatting to a friend recently about TW and Robin Hood and mentioned that while I want to mother Ianto/Much the feelings for Jack/Allan tend more toward push against a wall/tree and ravish! I think I may have shocked her :)

ROTFL! Allan's cute, but not up to Jack standard by any means *g* Then again, considering the other options in Sherwood.. Ditto on the mothering of Much though, but I'm still trying to get my head around Ianto.

I liked Random Shoes too, partly because it had that Welsh bloke from "Grown Ups" in it - though he was an evil, nasty excuse for a "friend". The ending was weird, even for an alien artifact. Ascending into heaven/space? Come on. The lack of teamy goodness made me wonder if the rest of them were on holiday when it came to shooting though.

Am not yet convinced that Torchwood will get more than a second series.. it's now been confirmed that Life On Mars will only run one more season, and that's won a tonne of awards :(

Ah yes that would be good and long over due.
I like Ianto and Jack best, but hmmm not sure if I agree with the chemistry they are not often in the same space enough to notice any

See, part of my thing is I don't quite trust Ianto. One minute he's angsting and grieving over his dead girlfriend, and the next he's making eyes at Jack. Part of me can't help but think he's playing Jack with no good intentions in mind. But that could just be me being cynical and jaded [g]

Plus, he just seems way too needy to appeal to Jack.

hmmm very good points - part of me thinks that Jack wants to comfort and make it up to Ianto in the only way he knows how, or at least make him forget so he can move on... x

hmmm methinks Ianto needs a good shag and we know Jack is good at that.
