Yeah, another one :) So sue me.

What fandom are you surprised I'm not into? What fandom do you think is tailor-made for me and you can't believe I don't watch the show/fic it till my fingers fall off from typing/squee relentlessly about it?

This is not to get into new fandoms, just curiosity.

First one that popped to mind was Horatio Hornblower.

I have couldn't really give a specific reason why though.

I don't quite get the idea of fandom. What others mean by that. I'm not sure if it's a fault in me or in my definition. If I have a fandom at all at this time then it is probably Alan Rickman. Perhaps Severus Snape. But I can't stand Harry Potter and watch the movies only when they are airing and only if he's on the screen or about to be on the screen when the channel surfs there.

I was involved in seaQuest - I wrote fanfiction for it. And for Sons of Thunder-Texas Ranger (as opposed to the short-lived series that was spun-off it. Firefly, Star Trek (TOS and TNG), Buffy the Vampire Slayer - I liked them all, but ... I don't know that I would consider myself a fan. (fwiw, I also wrote fanfiction for Joxer and Gabrielle of Xena - no - not slash. Comedy bits.)

Is it fandom when you enjoy something and watch/view/read everything you can about it/them? Or is it something more?

I'm going on and on because ... I haven't listed but the merest fraction of my past and present "fandoms" and some of the things I do like come with caveats. CSI, for example, I haven't watched at all this season because ... because. And Wire in the Blood I stopped watching 4th series because they had 'tweaked' out of it that which I watched to see. It was too far from the original. I don't think that's the case with CSI - I think it just failed to engage my interest is all.

Even when I am involved with a fandom, it's usually not the entire thing in which I'm interested, but one person or one aspect. (Firefly is an exception, as was Babylon5). Snape, Spock, Data (or Barclay), Jupiter Jones, Trixie Beldon (NOT Nancy Drew!), Miguel Ortiz, Methos, Mr. Morden. Okay, that last one was purely physical. I loved his smile.

But how can one be said to be a fan unless the entire being is consumed in the interest? If I am a fan of anything at this moment, it would probably be Scottish Gaelic. Unfortunately. And I am dreaming of the main character in my OF (which is where I WISH my main interest was atm).

Actually, I shouldn't complain. Up until October of last year and for the past I-don't-know-how-many before I was in thrall to Snape. It's nice to have the freedom of my imagination back again.

I'm gonna say Poltergeist: the Legacy, simply because I can't remember if you're into it or not. And as far as I'm concerned, everyone should be into that fandom.
