Yeah, another one :) So sue me.

What fandom are you surprised I'm not into? What fandom do you think is tailor-made for me and you can't believe I don't watch the show/fic it till my fingers fall off from typing/squee relentlessly about it?

This is not to get into new fandoms, just curiosity.

First one that popped to mind was Horatio Hornblower.

I have couldn't really give a specific reason why though.

I've seen a few of the movies, and have the whole set on my Amazon Wishlist, but haven't read the books. Working my way through the Patrick O'Brien's first!

So it's a smouldering fandom :)

Very good. I like O'Brien, but Hornblower is a whole different feel. Much more swashbuckling, fast goodness. I like the movies and have a squee or two in me for Ioan, but they don't compare to the books. :)

Well, after I read the 20 odd O'Brien's and all the Richard Sharpe novels, then I'll see about tackling Hornblower [g]

I stopped reading O'Brian when Barrett Bonden ... umm, left the ship (don't know how far you are and don't want to spoil anything). How sad is this, I watched the entire movie just for glimpses of the coxswain! (Ably played by Billy Boyd) and then read the stories 'visualizing' the characters from the movie in my head. Pathetic. That's what it is, pathetic.

I changed my mind. I do know why. You like tall ships, sexy British actors and general Britishness. What with Dr. Who, Holby, Laurie, Tolkien. You used Pimpernel-esque earlier, which as one of my favorites and Hornblower, they have a bit in common.

Yeah, Hornblower.

See my last comment reply, but as for the Pimpernel-esque that was a part of the meme text, not 'me' [g]

Ahh, it is. Well, then I have to ask, have you never read the Scarlet Pimpernel? You'd probably like it. Capt. Jack reminds me of him.

I think I read it in school back in the dawn of time [g]

In middle school, every year for three years, the last two books I checked out were The Scarlet Pimpernel and The Three Musketeers. Dunno why the second one - haven't read it since, but I just felt that ... it was the right thing to do.
