I just about had a heart attack this morning. Why? Because I thought someone had broken into the apartment. Turned out not to be an actual person. Details here.

I love, love, love, Christmas music, so I really got into this quiz (and I did quite well, let me just say [g]).

Here We Come a Wassailing....  )

The winner -- yes, let's make it a contest -- will get an icon made just for them. Yeah, I know, big whoop, but it's the thought that counts [g]

And please, no wagering!

"Fox Orders Immortal Cop Show

The Fox TV network has ordered a pilot tentatively titled New Amsterdam, about a New York homicide detective who is secretly centuries old, Variety reported.

Allan Loeb and Christian Taylor (ABC's Miracles) will write and executive-produce the pilot. Steven Pearl also is an executive producer. Regency TV is producing with Scarlet Fire Films, the trade paper reported."

I wonder why that sounds so familiar...?

Want to watch the Winter Solstice at Maeshowe and you can't quite make that trip to Orkney? Weather permitting, you can watch via webcam.

[sigh] How I want to go back there one day.

ithildin: (Xmas - Shhhh)
I'm off Sat. - Mon., getting off early on Friday (well, one hopes considering company is coming for a turkey dinner!), and Nin is off Fri. - Sun, but doesn't have to be to work till 6pm Xmas day. So the plan is a turkey dinner Friday, with a dinner guest in attendance, and Nin making pumpkin cheesecake for dessert. Saturday, I'm making Nin a Southern sort of brunch with biscuits and gravy and hash brown casserole -- though she doesn't like gravy! or stuffing for that matter, but I do! -- with a side of mimosas. And Sunday, a traditional roast beef dinner with Yorkshire pudding and plum pudding and cranberry pecan pie for dessert.

Tonight, I cut up and sauteed the veg for the stuffing, and am making the bourbon cranberry sauce. Also plan to pull apart the bread for the stuffing. Tomorrow, I get the turkey in the salt water for its overnight soak, and will make mincemeat cake, now my mum has finally sent me the recipe -- along with a tin of Nanaimo bars. Saturday evening, I'll make the pecan pie and the honey cranberry sauce that goes on top.

Other than cooking and eating, we plan to watch our traditional raft of holiday movies and anything else that strikes our fancy, listen to lots of Xmas music, and drink muchly!

As far as work goes, it's deader than dead, so I'm going to try and write the Xmas fic I have in my pea brain and get it posted by the day itself.
