[livejournal.com profile] aj picked seven interests for me to explain.

Arthuriana: The legends and mythology of King Arthur are something I've had a long term interest in. I used to read everything fiction and non fiction I could get my hands on.

C.J. Cherryh: One of my favourite authours. I'd have to say 'Downbelow Station' is my favourite novel of hers. Wish I'd never met her in person though.

Isabella Bird: One of my interests is women in the west. One day, in a bookstore in West Yellowstone, I came across this book: A Lady's Life in the Rocky Mountains, which is an account of her trip across the American West, alone, in 1873. She really was a remarkable woman, who did more in the 1800s than most modern women ever do in their lives.

Ithildin: The glowy silver stuff on the Doors of Moria in the Lord of the Rings, and my internet nickname since 1995. No one ever used it till the movies came out, and now, I rarely can get it when I sign up for something new. Like LJ :)

Orkney: The most fantabulous place in the world! Islands at the north tip of Scotland which is the Disneyland of Archeology. I was there once about 12 years ago, and hope to be able to go again some day.

Sano Ichiro: The main character in a series of novels by Laura Joh Rowland set in 17th century Japan.

Skara Brae: The Pirates of the Caribbean ride of the Disneyland of Archeology (or whatever your favourite ride is)! A Neolithic village in Orkney, and in my own personal fanon, where Methos is from [g] It had been covered in sand for four thousand years, and was exposed during a storm in 1850. Absolutely stunning site.

Since everyone seems to be doing them!

I can virtually guarantee there will be no political content on my LJ. I might have something to say the morning after election day, or not, but that's about the extent of it. At the most, you may see me mentioning I put in some volunteer hours at campaign headquarters. But those posts, should they happen, will be mercifully detail free.

As for political posts on my f'list -- passion is awesome! I'm passionate about the subject myself. I just happen to have other places on the internet to vent my spleen. I may not agree with you, and goodness knows, the majority of my f'list is totally on the other side of the political fence from me, but I think it's a good thing when people care enough to be involved. If Mary Matalin and James Carville can have a happy marriage, I think I can manage keeping my friends list uncut through the election. That's what scroll keys are for [g]

Got off early, finished my beta for [livejournal.com profile] strangevisitor7, and am just waiting for Nin to bring Norrington back from the vet. Then we're headed out for our weekly free wine tasting -- which we get to do like once every three months -- and then dinner and a movie. It's nice having actual pans on a Friday for once!
