Apr. 9th, 2009 06:51 pmIt Feels Like a Weekend
Apr. 9th, 2009 07:51 pmThough it's only Thursday. When I was working, one of the things I really missed about Canada was having Easter Monday as a holiday. And Boxing Day, of course [g] Nin's in the middle of her every other week 8 day shift, and mum works as well, so not sure we'll do anything special for Easter. I haven't gotten as far as checking out either of the Episcopal churches in the area; there's one on the opposite side of St. George and one in Cedar City which is the next town from us up the grade. Both are about 1/2 hour away.
So yeah, I'll be around all weekend :)

Beer & Cairns, Oh My!
Apr. 9th, 2009 08:29 pmThere's a gentleman I met via the now defunct Orkneyjar email list. He lives in Stronsay and has an interesting post up about Neolithic beer making. and via that post, I see that probably my favourite place in Orkney, the Tomb of the Eagles, now has a nifty website! This is a privately owned Isbister chambered Cairn, and the couple that own the farm it's on are delightful! And the crawl in on your hands and knees is quite something! You can take a look at it here. It's one of those places I really want to visit again some day!
