ithildin: (Avengers - Nick Avengers Poster)
First off, our Avengers DVD is still in Vegas. Amazon has failed me :( I was so looking forward to the 45 minutes of deleted scenes!!

Second, I ITCH!! Sunday, I was cooking on the grill, and afterwards, I realized I was covered in bites. I'm thinking, from my research, either black flies, or deer flies. Now, flies have been really bad this year, since it has been a damp summer - even for the desert! But I was thinking house flies, since I've never been bitten by anything outdoors around here in five years. I've tried everything for the itching, from various over the counter things to folk remedies like baking soda paste to toothpaste. Nothing has helped. I'm having a bit of an allergic reaction - my ankle and elbow are swollen, and some of the bites feel hot to the touch. Not as bad as the reaction I have to mosquito bites, but enough to be miserable. Sorry, I just have to whine because it's DRIVING ME CRAZY!!

Some thing I've found very helpful this year with the annoyingly inchy bites. is one drop of lavender, one drop of peppermint, and one drop of tea tree essential oils. REPEAT. I find it dies down, but with flies and spidies it's a repeat as often as they itch.

Your DVD is going to have deleted scenes? I bought mine today and it doesn't have it - only the Blue-ray does. I guess only certain DVDs have it?

Poor you :(

I get the super itchy mosquito bites too, they suck. I usually just have to suffer through them. Though, I do find that instead of scratching them if I use my fingernails and make an X over the bite it keeps them from itching for a lot longer. I have no idea why...maybe it's all in my head, lol.

Good luck finding something non-perscription strength that works!

We got the Blu-Ray and the deleted scenes didn't seem like 45 minutes to us at all. Maybe 20.

But I know that certain stores have different versions of things. Like Target's had an exclusive 90 minute Making Of special.

I tried many, many different things for mosquito bites this year, none of them very helpful., but I did get some relief form some antihistamines you can get over the counter. I can't remember the brand, and you'd probably have something differently named over the pond. The ones I had were in the form of effervescent tablets.

Plus I just want to say that I really HATE all the varying editions that came out - I want one version containing all the prepared extras, dammit! It's more and more likely that I will have to get the US Blu-ray edition. That sucks.

Curse you Amazon! *shakes fist*

Fly bites usually feel worse than mosquito bites to me. The best I've had to come about was rubbing alcohol on them. It burns, but it helped them heal up a lot faster.
