Ahem. Interests...

Vintage. Well. I collect 40s and 50s hats, I collect WWI era children's books, I like vintage clothing (when I can find my size and I can afford it, or have it made...).

Cooking. I like to cook. For other people. I'm not crazy about cooking for myself. I like to try out recipes, I have favorite medieval recipes, I buy cookbooks (my roommate sells medieval cookbooks, so I always have a new one to try). I make chutneys and pickles and frequently give them away. I'm one of the few people I know who still make watermelon pickle.

Dachshunds. It means 'badger hound'. I have had three in my life, two at present, and I now know what dog I love. Other dogs are fine, and I adore cats, but dachshunds. Dachshunds are my dogs.

Icons: the BS hamster = this was shortly after her seventeen-hour marriage, and I said to zannechaos that 'the wheels were spinning, but the hamster was dead'. And she made me this perfect brain-dead bimbo icon. The woman needs help (Brittany, not Zanne).

Mistletoe. AH! Solange and Edda. The perfect creature to cuddle under the mistletoe. (If Methos isn't around to explain the entire significance of mistletoe in Norse legend and Druidic tradition.)

Methos in Greys = Actually, this one makes me think of an Equalizer quote -- 'My world is nothing but greys.' I like him like this, as if he's remembering all the years that are gone.

Cool on the vintage! I have two prize vintage things, both from the 1920s. A silk afternoon dress, and a ring. The ring was my engagement ring to myself [g] since I'm not ever likely to have one at this point in my life, about five years ago, I found this perfect ring at Jewels of Orleans in Disneyland (yep, the have an Estate Jewelery store there). It fit and everything :) I put it on layaway, and it took me a year to pay off, along with payments as birthday gifts from friends and family. I adore it, it's "me".

I saved some photos of some vintage dresses I found on Ebay, and hope one day to get reproductions made.

Interests:

9 Chickweed Lane: I started reading 9CL in our local paper years ago but for some odd reason, they dropped it. Now I get through Comics.com. It has great social commentary that's skewed just the way I like it. It isn't harsh or abrasive but pokes gentle fun at the human condition while making me smile.

Pauley Perrette: Fascinating woman! She plays a forensic scientist on NCIS *and* has degrees in Criminology, Sociology and Pyscology. Poet, singer, activist, gentle nutcase. I love her character of Abby, the perky Goth geek. She's just all around cool.

Kilts: Just once, I want to have personal contact with a really good looking man in a kilt and look under it! VBEG

Icons:

PW Memories: To me, Dr. Helm is Methos and that particular icon just evokes Methos and thoughts of his past. I'm a little caught up in my own past right now so that icon has special meaning for me.

Red Alert: Solange from 9CL. I love that cat. I'm trying to find "Hallmarks of Felininity", the collection of Solange strips but it seems to be out of print. Solange is Garfield with class and distinction.

Kitten: I was googling "cats" one day and found that piece of art. Something about it just spoke to me. I kept it on my hard drive for some time and when I got my LJ, that was one of my first non-HL icons. There's something very mystic about cats and that icon says it all to me.
