Heh, it would be hard to pick just one. I guess I'll go with having my best friend beaten up in front of me by the father of kids he went to school with. I was 16 at the time. I tried to stop him, and he threw me against a tree. Finally, an adult driving by scared him off.

That sounds pretty awful! Man, have I been lucky! ;-)

It's a pity that some grown-ups expect youngsters to be well-behaved and composed when they themselves give such bad examples...

Thank you for sharing that. Hope I didn't send you on too bad trips down memory lane... If so, please accept my apologies.

No, it's okay [HUGS]. But it always amazes me that all these years later, when I think about, it makes me anxious.

Originally I'd have been afraid, but for some reason I react to my being frightened with anger and the terror's source. So, when I look back at things like that, I'm likely to feel angry.

But then, I've also been to the other side, so to speak: Once, I passed the threshold where panic gets too intense so your emotions just shut down. Your mind suddenly is very clear, you think fast and (relatively)rationally and you act in absolutely cold blood. Boy, do I not want to go there again! :-)

But you know, every time we recall our fears like that, from a comfortable distance, they lose a little of the hold they have over us. At least, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it! Of course I asked only out of altruistic motives and it had nothing whatsoever to do with curiosity. *g*
