I think a question that was rarely addressed in HL is prevalent in this episode: What comprises the student- teacher relationship, and when does it end?

This is a question that's often really struck home with me, because my primary character in HL is Richie - which I admit freely is unusual and odd, even for me. But the student/teacher thing is just such an important relationship - one way or the other. It's a big deal, and we see hints of that all over the place, but there's never any real indication of limits or definitions or procedures or even 'normal way of handling it'. We see everything from MacLeod telling Richie it's time to leave after Mako to the immortal who used his student like a slave and treated him horribly (I'm sorry, I don't remember the episode) to Kenny, to Matthew and Carl, to Richie coming back and never, really, seeming to step away from the role as student.

In Richie's case, I can see there's still a student-teacher relationship even after the DQ. I think that it's also a factor in the Ahriman arc.

Kenny and Amanda haven't seen one another for 900-1000 years or so, and he's grown beyond needing a teacher. It looks like he's using Amanda for as mcuh as he can get. Amanda, not having DM's experience with Kenny, doesn't see what he's become until almost too late.

Do you feel that Amanda changes a little bit after this episode?

I think that the fact Kenny is a 'child' colours Amanda's outlook. I don't see her behaving in the same manner if he were an adult immortal.
