The replacement DVR they sent us is a dud! It worked a total of three days and the HD has died. So now we get to start all over again. I'm tempted to look into DirectTV now, just because I'm ticked off. And I have no contract, so I totally could.
:) Talked to the rep and it might not actually be their fault. She said it may be the grounding on the dish wiring has gone. and considering the two massive power surges we had, that may be it. So, we try one more DVR, and if this one goes, then it is the grounding and the service guys will have to come out and rewire.
Hate to say it but my money is on the wiring being gone. Most likely they will need to replace it. Hopefully it will only impact the DVR. But you may want to ask the Super to check the wiring in general so nothing bad happens to your computer or other stuff.
My computer is on a UPS, so no worries there. It may not be the wiring in the socket, but the wiring in the dish. I'm going to plug in the receiver into a different outlet as a test. girl on phone said that would indicate it's the dish if it happens again.
I have DirectTV and have been happy with them., though I've only had it since April. I have a DVR receiver. However, I have yet to figure out a way to transfer movies from the DVR to my PC and from what I've read, it isn't possible.
