ithildin: (Methos - Pillar)

Fans of Adrian Paul and the whole Highlander continuum should be happy to hear that he'll be chopping off more heads in the near future. "Highlander: The Source" is scheduled to air on SciFi on September 15th and again on September 20th.
The film features Adrian Paul as Duncan MacLeod (insert your "of the Clan MacLeod" here) bemoaning his life after the loss of his great love. One hopes that means Tessa, but who knows. He joins up with Methos (Peter Wingfield) and Joe Dawson (Jim Byrnes) on a quest to find the first Immortal and the Source of their Immortality. Everyone who's seen the second movie, think of this as your way of pretending it never happened. Speaking of the movies, apparently this was originally scheduled to be a big-screen release but Lionsgate pulled it from distribution. This should be interesting.

Personally, I'm with the theatres.

I feel sorry for all the people watching it as a way of pretending the second movie didn't happen. That is like shooting yourself in the foot so you don't notice you got stabbed in the arm.

:-)

I never managed to download it when everyone else was watching it before
Refuses to believe all the comments I heard I will not be disappointed.
I guess they won't be doing any more now *sigh*

Does anybody else have a sinking feeling in their gut?

*tries hard to keep the faith*

bemoaning his life after the loss of his great love
Hopefully this means Kate is dead *eg*. Although if she was his great love then what was Tessa? Or Amanda even? Oh! You don't think they mean Amanda do you?

I've seen it already. It was awful. Spectacularly so. But Methos was so pretty! It was released legally in Russia months back. It's where a lot of my icons come from :) End of February, there's several posts on it here.

The irony is that, despite the fact The Source is absolutely godawful, it will still mark a vast improvement in the quality of films on The SciFi Channel. I don't know whether to laugh or cry about that. ;)

Frankly, I'm really looking forward to seeing The Source and Adrian on TV again. Isn't this where his fans found him??

More on Adrian..

I'm not much of an AP fan, but I didn't find him on HL, but on the Colbys and then War of the Worlds. In fact, I remember seeing HL for the first time and thinking, 'it's that guy from WotW'.

and just think what the money they spent for a theatrical release could have been used on if it had been made for TV to start with. Could have been a four hour mini series perhaps. With, you know, a decent story even! [g]

I didn't think I could feel sadder about this movie but thinking about what might have been...*sob* you are so right. (And yes, I will be watching.)

Heh, I haven't seen the Source, wasn't sure I'd pay movie ticket price for it, but won't resist Methos on Sci-Fi. Still, my favorite Highlander movie currently isn't live action. Highlander: The Search for Vengeance maybe too much of a cross-genre mutt for some, but I think it's the best Highlander outside of the original movie, and original TV series. :D

No, it's worth watching for Methos in leather [g] PW is in fine 'form' in this!

Heh, I pretty much figured back when they were giving us some teaser footage at HWW7 in '06 that the only entertainment I'd get out of it, besides watching David Abramowitz dance around the question of whether or not they were killing Joe off in the film, was in getting to watch Peter Wingfield play Methos again. I was impressed hearing him talk about how much of a "living" person Methos is to Peter. He's very in touch with him. :)

I haven't seen the online version yet (I only want official) so I'm excited to see it. Methos!!

There are copies of it online, but it was an actual legal release on DVD in Russia. You could order it and have it shipped to other countries. I'm assuming the TV version will be different because it will be edited for language and such.

Oh, my God ... ANOTHER ONE? I loved they wanted to pass off the torch to the TV series crew, but that movie they did was ... BAAAAAAD. I'll probably end up watching this - if only for morbid curiosity - but, man.

Yeah, and this one is just as bad. The only redeeming feature for me was that there's lots of Methos, unlike the last one.

So this means even after they re-edited, it still wasn't wathable? Not a good sign. But, of course, I'll watch it. I have the Russian dvd already. I don't know what they expected when they started with that God-awful script anyway.

Yeah, I'm interested in seeing how it differs from the Russian release.

New movie = new source material for vids

Who cares about the movie itself? I know the VIDS fangirls make will be fantabulous.

Well, I know it's been 'the source' for some excellent icon material! Speaking for myself [g]

I was trying to explain the depths of badness of the movie to my other half and his comment was "So what you are saying is that this is a movie not to be watched so much as harvested". I think he hit the nail on the head. :-)

Date: 2007-08-08 03:28 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] jotribe.livejournal.com
Ack, I had the forlorn hope that the movie would get tied up in Panzer's estate and never get shown. That's the best thing that we could have hoped for *g*

Maybe we need to have a joint SciFi viewing and live LJ it [g]

I'd go there, but I'll be in the middle of Scotland in a tent. If the IMDB is to be believed, the UK will be getting it in a week. I'm wondering if it's on TV or if they are releasing a DVD of it there...
