ithildin: (Holiday - Xmas Cactus)
There's been a house for sale in Rockville (it's the population 300 town between here and Srpingdale.) on the main street, for quite a few months now. It looks so sad and lonely. It was built in 1928 and what you can't see behind the tree is the porch support is sagging.

It doesn't look nearly this cheery now - I don't think it's being lived in anymore. I'm sure when it's bought, it'll get torn down to build a big vacation home for someone from Vegas or L.A. :(, like the one under the cut, which is on the same street.

Is that a craftsman style? It sort of looks like one. I love old houses, they were built with such heavy wood planks and stuff. (Except the ones built during the war, my gparents used to say that stuff was being rationed so they built those houses as cheaply as possible.)

Ha! Captcha says "objoisf story".

I like little older houses. Especially from that period -- although it means you have to have someone rewire the house.

Our rental hasn't been completely rewired, which causes occasional interesting moments.

Like the gas line in the kitchen ceiling. Pre-WWI -- gaslights.
