I couldn't get my Yahoo mail to display properly -- all the buttons to move to the next page were gone. So I closed my browser, restarted computer, thinking there was some issue with me. Still didn't work. So I started researching and it turns out THEY DID IT ON PURPOSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My inbox is one long endless scrolling page. I could cry. I've been with Yahoo 13 YEARS! Almost all my non personal email is centered there. I can't even comprehend what it's going to take to try and switch to another service. I loathe Gmail, stuck with Yahoo, and this is what they do. Just trying to delete mail without the ability to do it page by page? ARGH!! And the icing on the cake? Their Twitter is preening over the change, links to the blog post about it, asks what you think, and guess what? comments are disabled. FAIL!

Yuck. I too loathe g-mail, but I run it through Mozilla's thunderbird? So I very rarely go into the actual Gmail interface to deal with it. It's the best solution I've found. I got pissed off with Yahoo a while back and went looking for a replacement. Sounds like I was right to do so. Ugh.

So basically, instead of Yahoo making the Tumblr interface more usable, we're getting Yahoo making the Tumblr interface more common. Blech.

There are a few different options out there besides Gmail: Zoho, Fastmail, Inbox.com, GMX are the ones I was most interested in the last time I went looking. I've poked at a few, but inertia has basically kept me in a place where I just open Gmail once every week or two in a separate browser, to keep it from tracking me overly much.

I just hate threaded email, hence my dislike of Gmail. I have a Gmail account I used when I was looking for a job, so I had a non fannish handle, but that's pretty much all I used it for.

Hi. I have a domain and email with Dreamhost (no connection to Dreamwidth) and can give out unlimited numbers of email accounts. I gave out a few when Gmail made an annoying privacy-destroying announcement a year or so ago and people wanted to flee.

It has to be in the @mojavedragonfly.org domain, which is a weird looking email, I admit, but I can easily set you up with ithildin@mojavedragonfly.org, or any other username. It's free, adfree, has unlimited storage and there is a web interface or you can use an email client.

Aww, thank you. I actually have a domain with my 'real' email address that I use for personal email. My Yahoo account is where I do all my merchant type dealings, get Twitter comments, etc. But I do appreciate the offer :)

I'm not sure this will work, but if you switch off Java in your browser it *should* force Yahoo!mail back to its basic non upgraded version.

Reload and login and when it prompts you to upgrade say no. Then switch java back on/enable and forget about it.

I think that will stop the e-mail scroll-fest.

I'll have to try that. Thing is I didn't initiate an upgrade, it just was changed when I logged on. So don't know if the old version will 'stick'.
