Years ago, I started something called OFC Pride!. It was popular for the first few years, then sort of died out. Yesterday, Becca popped in and was using one of the buttons I'd made as an icon. Imagine my surprise! Then she reccomended a few communities I might be interested in, including this one. So today, I went and checked it out, and come to find they have a link to my OFC Pride site! How nifty is that? Okay, yes, I'm easily amused :) But it's kewl to me, so there!

I guess I'd better break my HTML skills, huh? :) It's just so weird seeing a link to something that has been a backwater on my website for so long.

LOL - that community is great! Have already added it to my list. Is it for original fiction only or for those OFC in fandom??

We are downright mixy uppy y'know? When you mentioned the OFC pride site the other day I was like I'm pretty sure I've been there. And I'm pretty sure I had an icon for a while with OFC pride on it. It's probably burned to a CD (after the many computer wipes I've had in the past few months) but I'm sure I still have it.

Anyway, gets better. [livejournal.com profile] ocrecs? My baby. *G*

I'd noticed that when I went over earlier! Talk about a small, really small world. Considering how the big the internet is, it's odd how you keep bumping into familiar people and things :)

Oh, and you're a fellow cataclysmic July 16th birthday, so how odd is that?

Coolness. Ith already knows my love of OCs anyway. :-)

Check this one out, too: http://community.livejournal.com/occhallenge/

Yes, I do :) Thanks for the link.

Though, I think I need someone to explain how communities work. I'm thinking they're something akin to a group blog, but I'm not positive.

That's exactly how communities work. You can join and become a member. Some are moderator-only postings and are there for strictly for information, although usually you can reply. Most you can freely post at. Almost all of them have rules in the information page. When in doubt I contact a moderator and ask. :-)

Grins, OFCs often not too popular in the HL fandom I know - but I've liked a few I have encountered.

And I pretty much only read HL fic with OFCs. That may have something to do with the fact I don't read slash, so something needs to fill the void :) Of course, I adore xovers too, so I'm an odd duck all around!

Nothing wrong with OFCs or X-Overs. Not to me anyway. ;)

Well... I don't read or write a lot of slash, but I do like menages a trois a lot, and sometimes they do feature f/m/m. :o

I must not be looking for fic in the right places! [weg] Or maybe the right fandoms?

Heh, the Highlander trio I've done is Grayson/TJ(OFC)/Methos. Of course TJ exist in the normal timeline post "Band of Brothers," in my Duncan free timeline with Grayson and Methos, and in an AU I've only posted one little piece of that's... odd even for me.

Wow! I never realized there was a problem with OFCs.

Viv, yep :) Never understood it myself. I'm all for everyone being allowed to enjoy whatever aspect of fandom/fic they care to. I'm not making anyone read my fic, so get a life already! But this is why fandom can be a real love/hate relationship.

Way I see it...is that it's like playing dolls...

Now, of course, *some* people do really PERVERTED things with their dolls!!!

But dang, just because Im a housewife/mom/much too old to be doing child's play doesnt mean I can't sit and pretend Im someone else for a while...

Oh wait...I think thats called acting??? And people pay to see that sort of thing dont they...

Why do those who hate OC go to movies again...????

sarcasm /Off

That's an interesting way to look at it. My characters aren't me, but I'm sure aspects of me drift in. But creating an OC for fanfic isn't any different a process for me than the ones I've created for my original stories. The show or movie that I start out with is more of a framework than anything. A place to be creative, and for me, that includes original characters. Duncan and Methos are good examples I think. In the show, there were plenty of women created for Duncan to be paired with, so I've never felt the need to create an OFC in relation to any fic I've written with him in it. Methos is another story entirely. In the present day, he got Aelxa, and then she died. So there's lots of empty space to work with, and I do! Happily :)
