One of the problems when I'm setting to write something historical, is that I get sucked into the wonderful world of research. So much so, I never actually get around to writing anything [g]
Just a smattering of the places I've found:
British Women's Novels: A Reading List, 1775-1818
Regency Style Year-by-Year
Women & Power in Alta California
Early Modern Woman Database
Spanish Surname Practices
California Wildflower Index
A few minutes later: [wheezes from laughter] Death Rode a Pinto Pony (scroll down a wee bit)
And more later: bought this CD. I've been to a few Alta California dances, complete with period dress, and had a blast. Discovering there was a CD of the music was awesome!

Date: 2007-12-01 02:39 am (UTC)From:That's just Eerie. I was planning as soon as I got done catching up on my lj reading to write something similar to this. My research is getting into a frenzy. It's partly the not getting around to writing anything, it's also the part where the research is adding a lot to my Plot (good thing) and taking it far beyond what I expected it to be (both good and bad).
I'll probably post it anyway. I just hadn't decided if I was going to lock it or not yet.
