ithildin: (Holiday - Xmas Moonlight)
If anyone cares, I can finally point out the story I wrote for the Secret Santa fic exchange. It was for [livejournal.com profile] amonitrate, and it's called Life is Short.

As some of you may recall, that was actually the second story I wrote for her. The first one, the one I decided wasn't a suitable holiday sort of tale was Silver Service. So now you can compare, if you're so inclined.

Only [livejournal.com profile] lferion guessed which story was mine. She was also the only one to mention me or my story period. So she gets two gold stars! Apparently it was the 'California-ness' of the story that gave it away for her [g] Yeah, I guess if you read my LJ regularly, that would be a hint.

And if you're looking for more to read, there are lots of good stories over at the comm. Something for everyone! I won't ever make it through all of them, but the ones I've read have been a lot of fun. I enjoyed the experience, though I'm not sure I'd do it again. But it was a an interesting exercise all around.

I'll see about posting my story here at some point, and include the photos of the setting that I actually do have!

It was an excellent story. I enjoyed it very much. I was afraid I wouldn't be able to make the deadline, so I didn't join up. Would love to see the photos. I knew it was your story but I had a heads up from a red-headed birdie.

Btw, I'm reading all the stories (although I'm behind right now) including the crossovers I'm not involved in and the ones that have pairings I'm not interested in. I'm also reading the gen stories.

So I'm offering a challenge - will you read all of them including the slash ones? *g*

I've read the Methos/Byron ones, and the I have the femmslah one scheduled -- it was rated NC17 and didn't feel comfortable reading it at work. But no, I won't be reading any of the D/M ones. My eyeballs would fall out from excessive rolling [g] and Christmas is supposed to be happy! Just reading the one that I didn't know was D/M till I got partway through was enough to fill my quota for the year!

Which one was that? I may have it on the wrong list if it's slash and you couldn't tell by the synopsis.

*hee* No eye rolling. I'm reading all of them - don't want to miss a good story. Some of the D/M ones I've read have been excellent. I'd hate for you to miss out.

I can't remember the title. I'd have to go hunt for it. It was a Doctor Who crossover with Turlough and Peter Davsion's Doctor and Methos was inside the TV show.

See that's the thing, D/M instantly makes it a non enjoyable story for me. I find the pairing so unbelievable that I'm never able to enjoy the story. No one's been able to convince me otherwise in how ever many years it's been since Methos joined the show. And believe me, I've read D/M fic over the years. I'm just like people who say they will not read het, I will not read D/M :) Everyone has their squicks. That's mine.

But from glancing at the offerings, it looks like you D/M fans got lots of nice fic, so that's a good thing. One of the reasons I almost didn't participate was that I thought the exchange would be 99% D/M. The fact it wasn't was a lovely surprise! I actually felt like part of the fandom again, and I haven't felt that way in years.

Just want to say again how much I enjoyed your story. Thanks for caving to the pressure and telling me which was yours. :D

Thank you! I enjoyed yours as well. Did you end up writing the most stories? Yes, you are relentless! And I'm going to start bugging you for more Methos fic!

I did write 3. It was a great experience and Amand_r is a great beta reader. Besides how could I say no to writing an extra story for [personal profile] idontlikegravy

I'm terrible at guessing. I only guessed Amand-r's story. I've only read about five of the entries so far. But thank you again for my story! I'll have to read the alternate too. I think Amanda/Methos is a sorely underexplored pairing!

You're one better at guessing than I am [g]

You're welcome! I really enjoyed what I ended up writing. But boy, did it morph a jillion times! As for the alternate, it's Methos/Amanda too, but boy is is different than Life is Short!
