Bringing Lunch In

I have so much baking to get done today, I'm being lazy and sent Nin out to get lunch. Less dishes to clean up and stuff. I'm looking at the list of food prep and am feeling a little overwhelmed! It'll all get done -- eventually!

And then there's our annual Xmas DVDs to watch!

And usually at some point we end up watching the Pride and Prejudice mini series. We also still need to watch the extras DVD from PotC:AWE.

Your annual DVD list looks a whole lot like mine. *g* Only I've never seen Blackadder's Christmas Carol. I watch the Patrick Stewart version every year, though. And instead of Nightmare Before Christmas, I'm gonna watch A Muppet Christmas Carol this year. :D

No cooking for me today. That will all take place tomorrow and Tuesday.

Today I've made mincemeat cake and the pastry for this dark chocolate truffle tart Nin wanted. Tomorrow, we're doing a Christmas Eve brunch, and making gingerbread men, and Xmas Day, I'll finish off the tart to eat after dinner. Nin is currently making some sort of boozy punch [g]

Boozy punch FTW!

For Christmas Eve, I always make chicken & sausage gumbo, and panettone bread pudding. So I'll start early tomorrow by roasting the chicken. Christmas Day I'll be baking a mince pie for dinner. I'm planning a standing rib roast for dinner this year. Mmmmmm....beef. ;)

Oh, hey! We're having a standing rib roast for the first time too! We're going to Utah to see the family on the 5th, and mum's doing turkey, so we decided to do something a little different.

And Nin just slit her thumb open with a knife, so she' very cleverly gotten out of any more cooking! [g]

The boozy punch is awesome! Yum!

That reminds me, I'll need to dig out the recipe for the roast. I made it once....er..five years ago, maybe. But it was awesome then!

She just started drinking [g] With her right hand up in the air.

Nin saw a recipe on Food Network about ten days ago, and decided that's what she wanted me to make for Xmas. It has some sort of paste made of garlic, horseradish root, and other stuff all over it before it bakes. I haven't actually looked at the recipe yet. She's just handing me recipes and saying, 'make this!'.

Yum, horseradish! Daddy used to grow his own. That was some awesomely strong stuff. :) I think I got the recipe I used from the food network, too. I remember rubbing olive oil and smashed garlic all over it. And sprigs of fresh thyme. Ooooh...must remember to buy fresh thyme tomorrow.

It's awesome! Bernard is a put upon young man whose life sucks. The only thing left when his girl friend takes everything, is a lamp... I adore it to pieces!

I love Blackadder's Christmas Carol :) I watch Love Actually every year too. I haven't seen Bernard and the Genie, I've wanted to see it for a while because I love Rowan Atkinson.
