There are the fic and vids that get tons of comments and recced and nominated for awards... and then there's the rest.

Here's the plan: if you wrote or created something in 2007 that you were really proud of, but you're pretty sure that no one other than maybe your mother read or viewed, then rec it in the comments. Tell us a bit about it, and include a link, of course. And if you enjoyed something this year by someone else that you thought didn't get nearly enough love, then you can rec that too. And it doesn't have to be confined to LJ postings. (If you aren't positive the story or vid you want to rec was created in 2007, that's fine. It's not like I have minions that are going to go check!). Or you can rec your own stuff and someone else's! And more than once too! I'm easy.

I figure it will provide some entertainment for those of us who aren't going out for the holiday, and spread some New Year love around for some of the lonely creative endeavors out there.

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with, so don't be shy!

And hey, even if you did get love, there's nothing wrong with being an attention junkie, so pass on whatever you'd like even more love for. We promise not to tease you.

Last year's is here.

Ok, I'll shoot.

I was disappointed that my X-Men Movieverse/Scrubs crossover didn't get morelove. I thought it was funny. Uh, Rogue gets a call that Logan is at Sacred Heart in the ICU. Merriment ensues. I especially like the bit part played by Janitor.

Here. (http://amand-r.livejournal.com/233063.html)

[livejournal.com profile] ninjababe wrote a really cute Highlander/Firefly/Chuck ficlet (http://ninjababe.livejournal.com/100775.html) that I think needs much more love.

Green Boy is a modern fantasy story; the hero is a 17 year old boy, Jeff, a Changeling trying to live in the modern world. This is an original piece; the link is to a first draft of the first chapter. If you like it e-mail me and I’ll send the full edited version, or you can friend the l/j for the first drafts of the chapters.

This is a great idea! I want to mention a fic written by someone else: "A Village Ghost Story" (http://community.livejournal.com/fic_on_demand/1107325.html) by [livejournal.com profile] ovo_lexa. This is a haunting (pun intended), serious story set in the universe of The Prisoner, and it really captures the feeling and atmosphere of that pathbreaking series. There aren't enough Prisoner fics in the world, to my way of thinking, and this one stayed with me a long time after I read it.

I was very proud of my FIRST. FIC. EVER. but almost nobody responded to it, so, here it is:

Scream and Blur (http://bridget-x-alena.livejournal.com/7860.html)
It's Supernatural, Sam/Dean.

I'd love to get some more people to watch my Highlander vid, Life Among the Watchers (http://keerawa.livejournal.com/19884.html). It's a vid showing Joe Dawson's life, and the way he's caught between his oath as a Watcher and the loyalty he feels to MacLeod and the other Immortals he's come to care for.

I've even imeem'd it, so folks who don't want to deal with downloading can watch it.

What about WIPs?

*Grins*

I did quite well, in terms of feedback, this year. There were a few fics that didn't do well on livejournal, but did well elsewhere (my Dark Angel story springs to mind.

The one WIP I didn't get a lot of feedback for was my Veronica Mars/Highlander story Dead Ahead (http://jinxed-wood.livejournal.com/29694.html#cutid1). I guess it didn't catch the reader's imagination and, as I have other WIPs that people hound me ask me to update quickly, I've put this story on the long finger....

People hound you about WIPs? I feel very inadequate now [sniff]

Apparently I'm the only one who loved this. Does that mean I won't get an update *puppy-eyes*

-*Grins* Don't worry, my precious, I may be late in updating, but I always finish a story - even if it takes me half a decade!

To be quite honest, I like this story, I put a lot of effort into getting Veronica's 'voice' right and setting it up as a typical VM whodunnit episode. There is a third chapter in the works (i.e. I've already started it) and I'll make a promise: my next update is a 'Blue Sun Rising' chapter but the update after that will be 'Dead Ahead' :-)

So I am totally going to pimp this Dean Winchester/OFC smut fic I wrote this summer, because it didn't get the comments I thought it would (and should I be really a bad person if I said I was disappointed by it?).

My Brand of Lemonade (http://community.livejournal.com/spn_summer_het/2486.html)

I like this idea. I, too, am sitting at home and looking for fic.

Seriously this has been an excellent year for me and fic. But I'm going to pick two stories out for a little more love. One was Just Desserts (http://ithidrial.livejournal.com/434063.html). People really seemed to like the first three, but the final segment didn't seem to get a lot of comment. and I kinda thought there was some funny stuff in there :) The other one would be Edge of the Nest (http://ithidrial.livejournal.com/377133.html). something I don't do too often, is feature Duncan in a fic, and I was rather pleased with how it came out. Though maybe my Duncan isn't a Duncan Duncan fans like, you know?

I guess I'm surprised my Firefly foray didn't get more attention. I may not have known where to pimp it... or it's not as funny to other people as it is to me:) the links for the first two parts are at the top of this post, which is the last part... also, this doesn't reflect on the great comments I did get.

The Lovers Curse (http://amonitrate.livejournal.com/205152.html)

In other people's fics... there's been some great Miami Vice fic from [livejournal.com profile] oddmonster this year. Especially:

Hold the Lid Down Tightly
part one (http://oddmonster.livejournal.com/3170.html)
part two (http://oddmonster.livejournal.com/3496.html)
part three (http://oddmonster.livejournal.com/3631.html)

Stan Switek's spiral of grief over his partner's death coincides with Sonny's grappling with the aftermath of the Burnett trilogy. No one writes Stan like [livejournal.com profile] oddmonster.

Also, her The Glamorous Life (http://community.livejournal.com/vice_fic/24087.html) which really upped the Vice fic ante. Gina runs into trouble... as Gina always seems to do.
