You know how sometimes you have moments where you feel like you must be living in a cave or some remote foreign local? That's what it's been like since yesterday when Heath Ledger died. It's the topic on my f'list and on many of my email lists. I had absolutely no idea he was so popular. I'd heard of him, knew he was an actor, but that was about it. I checked IMDB to see if I'd ever seen any of his movies, but I hadn't. I've come across one other person who hadn't seen him before either. We must be sharing cave space.

It's very sad for his family, and I feel for his fans who are taking his death as such a blow.

*Nods.* I understand, not because I didn't know Heath Ledger, but because I hadn't realized Brad Renfro died last week. It's terribly shocking knowing they died just a week apart.

I had absolutely no idea he was so popular.

I've liked him since Ten Things I Hate About You, which I'd like to own. I do own A Knight's Tale, and I still feel he deserved an Oscar for his performance in Brokeback Mountain.

I had no idea who Brad Renfro was. I hadn't even heard the name before. The only name I recognized when it came to recent deaths was Suzanne Pleshette. I must just be old :)

I had no idea who Brad Renfro was.

Well, Brad was even younger than Heath. My mom recognized Heath, probably from watching my copy of A Knight's Tale with me, but she didn't recognize Brad. It didn't help her feel less old when I told her Brad was the little kid in The Client. It makes me feel kind of old, not just knowing that Brad and Heath were both younger than my little brother, but thinking of how when Brandon Lee died at 28 he was 10 years older than me but here with Heath Ledger dead at 28 I'm 4 years older than him. Time is indeed fleeting. :)

I've never heard of either, but Heath Ledger, yes - but then I was living in Australia when he got his first decent roles: Knight's Tale, the Patriot and - of course - Ned Kelly, who was a big Aussie hero. Not a big enough fan to go into spasms of grief, but certainly enough to feel sad!

(who were the other two, anyway??)

Suzanne Pleshette used to star on 'The Bob Newhart Show' back in the seventies. She played Bob Newhart's wife. She made a cameo in the last scene on the last episode of his second series, 'Newhart'.

Errr... okay, how about putting it this way: she co starred on one of the top rated TV shows in the seventies for something like seven years [g] And she was one of those actresses that worked constantly. She did dozens of movies from the fifties on, and dozens of guest star appearances on other TV shows. According to IMDB, she was supposed to play Cat Woman in the Batwoman series, but negotiations fell through and they gave the role to Julie Newmar.

I didn't think it would help you know who she was, more like I was trying to give an idea of how well known she was since you wouldn't know who she was. It made sense at the time :)

She died on the 19th from lung cancer. I hadn't realized till I read her bio that she married Tom Poston in 2001.

I am saddened to her of Suzanne Pleshette's passing i had no idea. I don't know Brad Renfro though i saw his name in the news.

I loved her. She stared in so many disney movie from my child hood. That last scene in the second bob Newhart show where she showed up is the best series finale ever!
