Following up on my prior post.

Who would you cast in a remake of the original Highlander movie? I'm not up on a lot of current actors, but off the top of my head...

Connor: Viggo Mortenson
Ramirez: Oded Fehr
The Kurgan: No idea
Heather: Sophia Myles
Brenda: Morena Baccarin

Valentine Pelka would make a great Kurgan but then how would they explain Kronos still being alive?

Can Viggo do a Scottish accent?

Considering the Scottish accents in Highlander have never been all that, I think he could do at least as good a job as the others did.

Only problem with Valentine is that no matter how scary he may be, he's also *short*. People don't take short Big Bads seriously on the big screen.

And I've just checked the internet and it seems to be Connor all over the place, nowadays [Shudders]. I guess I'll just have to resign myself to the Highlander fandom mangling my surname.

As far as the Highlander character goes, I've only ever seen it spelled Connor, so that's what I use.

I know [sighs]. It's just that my eye does this little twitch every time I see it...and yes, I'm whining, I know.

On to more important stuff.

Like who should be the Kurgan...

Christian Bale? I know he's done a lot of 'good guy' characters of late, but he can do scary like nobody's business, if he's given the right role - think 'American Psycho'.

I'm not sure I know who he is, I'm afraid. Wasn't kidding when I said I'm not up on current movie actors :)

He's the current Batman/Bruce Wayne. ;)

Ah! Well I did see the first one, but I can't really recall what he looked like.

Like the thought of Viggo and Oded in there. Very nice! I know Viggo would do a helluva job and would probably do his damndedest to have the accent. *visualizes Viggo with sword* Okay, back to work now.

I'm not big on the idea of Viggo or anyone mentioned for the Kurgan so far. How about Ewan MacGregor for the Highlander? By the "we know he can use a sword" argument Ewan proved it in the Star Wars prequels. And, for the Kurgan, Dwayne Johnson aka the Rock? He showed he can use a sword in The Scorpion King. The Kurgan should be a big guy, Jet Li is too short, and Christian Bale too lean.

Bleh, that is exactly the kind of remake move that makes me wary of one before I've even seen the story. It's one thing to make the character more "ethnic" to be more "PC" but something else to make him an entirely different character. Jet Li might be a scary evil immortal, but he wouldn't be the Kurgan in my book.

*Nods.* You're the one that said, "Now it's your turn!" ;) I do like the idea of Oded Fehr as Ramirez. I love Sean Connery, but his casting as Ramirez always makes me giggle. And, I don't have a strong opinion about any of the female casting one way or the other.

I've seen some suggest Ewan is the only person who did any real acting in the prequels. I've loved him since he played Frank Churchill in the 1996 film version of Emma with Gwyneth Paltrow and Jeremy Northam.

How about John Barrowman for Conor? After all, he is Scottish and cute. (I'm just being silly of course, there's no chance he'd get it, plus he might be a little camp in the role) I reckon David Tennant might pull it off if he bulked up a little...

I just think it might be nice for an actual Scot to get the role.

Oded would definitely be fantastic as Ramirez. And if a Scot is out of the question then Viggo is a good choice. It's perhaps a little out there, but maybe someone like Alan Rickman or Christopher Walken as The Kurgan. I don't mean them per se as they are probably a little old for the physicality of the role, but someone like them who has that instant air of menace... Bugger, can't think of anyone younger who sends a chill the way they do.
