ithildin: (Methos - Darkness)
I haven't posted one of these in a while since interest seemed to have been waning. But I thought there had been enough of a break that we could pick up the discussions again.

Highlander Season Five

Comes a Horseman
Air Date: Feb. 1997

MacLeod knew him as Melvin Koren, a desperado who left a trail of death and fire across the Old West, but Cassandra remembers him as an evil far older. He is Kronos, leader of the Four Horsemen, mounted Bronze Age raiders who murdered, raped, and pillaged their way across two continents. Never was a band of Immortals more cruel or more feared. He destroyed Cassandra's people and she's been hunting him across the millenia. But Kronos has a different target now -- Methos.

I was waiting for you to post this. :D

So, my thoughts on this ep, in no particular order and off the top of my head. I'll probably think of more later.

I love Joe. He's great in this ep and provides a perspective otherwise lacking, especially in his conversation at the loft with Duncan. *hugs Joe*

I love the flashbacks, and the blue facial war paint. :D

Kronos is a charismatic fascinating villain, who is made all the more evil by the fact is perfectly sane, as in 'in total control of his mental faculties'. I think some of the "bad" immies in the series are simply not all there, but he definitely is IMO.

Duncan is being Duncan in this ep, even though he does abdicate thinking a bit too much because a woman is batting her eyelashes at him.

Which bring me to Cassandra. To me, her behavior doesn't make sense. She reacts as if what happened 3000 years ago happened only 3 years before. Did she completely, absolutely bury those memories? It doesn't appear to be the case, so why hasn't she healed, at least somewhat, in all that time? One of the best things she could have done to heal is grow stronger, both physically and psychologically. However, from her fight with Kronos, it would appear that her sword skills are seriously lacking. Which leads me to wonder how she survived for 3000 years. She can't possibly have managed to remain hidden off the beaten track all that time. She most likely ran into unfriendly Immies from time to time. So she probably dispatched them by using the "Voice", which is nothing short of mind rape, so she is basically doing to others what was done to herself. That or run and hide behind big strong men, like she does with Duncan in 'Prophecy'.

PW's acting is absolutely stunning in this ep. He shows us so many different emotions, or a total lack of it, such as when Methos starts the fire.

And I can't think of anything else right now, so I'll be back after watching 'Indiana Jones'. :P
