I Hate That!

I'm awful at trying to pick a category to nominate someone's fic in, and I hate trying to think of a "why this must be read" summary that doesn't sound completely dorky! I can't even think of summaries for my own fic, let alone someone else's [sigh] I mean, I want people to read the fic, not drive them away from it. [bangs head against desk]

what's the one thing that makes the story great the one thing that makes the story a 'need to be read' story? (new look at a character, etc).
