ithildin: (Iron Man - Tony at Work)
Since this current Iron Man/Highlander crazy fic is spiraling ever more out of control, I realize I need to decide eventually whether I want to make it in the same 'universe' as the Methos meets Tony story I wrote first. I'm not sure I'm up to having two seperate Methoses and two separate Tonys in two different storylines. It would certainly change the dynamic of it all. When Charlotte finally tells Methos about Tony, if it turns out he already knows him, and then of course, that Tony knows about Immortals. Well you get the idea :)

Thoughts? Opinions? Requests? Drinks?

I think I'd rather have them stay separate, but I'd totally understand if you think it's too much for you to handle and decide to make it be the same universe.

Any thoughts on why you'd like them to stay separate? No requirement to respond, but if you have some thoughts, I'd appreciate it :)

Partly for the same reason as [livejournal.com profile] lferion, but also because I'd like to see Methos and Tony meeting for the first time in Charlotte's presence. That would be very interesting to read IMO. :P

Thanks for replying. Yeah, that's part of my 'one the one hand' [g]

I think the lead-in you have with the Charlotte story is really nice and I want to see how it plays out separately from the other. (The other feels like it could be a one-off, if you know what I mean?)

But I'll happily read either way!

Thank you! I have no clue which way to take it right now, and have two diverging potential storylines, so every bit helps!

I like the idea of having it all be in the same universe. One Methos and one Tony!

Noted!

I'd read them both either way.

though, maybe if they both already know Methos, they don't know the other knows - because they keep talking past one another, using phrases that mean Immortality to them & not to the other one.

though I'd perfectly enjoy two separate fics too.

it's entirely up to you. I'll back whatever you decide.

I used to play with universes--I'd have Timeline A where certain things happened to the characters and Timeline B--and of course there was always Timeline D, which stood for Disaster.

I think it works if you center on one thing that's different about Universe A from Universe B--in Universe A, there is a Charlotte. In B, if Charlotte exists, neither one of them have met her.

I think it might be interesting to have Tony figuring out that there was something about this boyfriend of Charlotte that was--very different, and show his reaction without the proof of a Quickening--or it could be you'd rather have Tony and Methos pretending not to know each other and Charlotte figuring out their relationship.

Just a thought.

I kind of like that approach. Everyone is keeping a secret and in on certain of the others, but not all. Charlotte, does not know Tony & Matthew know each other, Tony doesn't know Charlotte is immortal or exactly what Matthew is or how old, and Methos is not sure what the "relationship" is between Charlotte and Tony.

Cold be quite a comedy of errors.

Well. I'm sure it'll be awesome either way, and I will definitely read it either way. But I think it would be more fun if Tony has no idea about immortals, and doesn't already know Methos. While both scenarios would be fun, I think that one gets the bigger fun. :)

I'm all for bigger fun! Probably, in the end, the characters will inform me of what they want me to do. They're usually fairly opinionated.

I went out to lunch for like the first time in a year and a half today, and what did I talk about for almost the entire thing? Yep!This is getting ridiculous! [g]
