The smoke is even worse today. I go outside, I start coughing, and my voice is getting raspy. There's an actual layer of smoke settled over us. Kinda like when you're sitting around a campfire and the smoke blows across you. I'm thinking of seeing if I can get a ride home tonight if it doesn't clear out some by 5pm. I don't think a nearly mile walk home and my asthma will get along.

That sounds like a very good idea.

The wildfires must be pretty entrenched at this point. Are they having any luck putting them out?

The one closest to us is only 3% contained, the next one over is 66% contained. There's actually a Google fire map (http://www.oes.ca.gov/WebPage/oeswebsite.nsf/OpenBranchContent/29AB11FAF23F909388257466006452B7?OpenDocument) where you can click on the fire and get up to date info, which is extremely cool. The map makes it look like the whole northern half of the state's on fire.
