Thanks to everyone who commented on the kitty. As for 'Jack' being the name, it would be after my favourite Captain Jack, Jack Sparrow. Sparrow was going to be Jack, but since she was a girl, we went with Sparrow. However, we're considering Norrington currently . He just looks likes he's in a morning coat and spats :)

We went to see Dark Knight last night. It was a good movie, but once was enough for me. Near the end I started wondering if it were ever going to end! I could have really done with it being a 1/2 hour shorter. Good performances, though it didn't have that great 'look' of the first one.

Dark Knight could have benefited from a bit of editing, yeah. When we were leaving the theater, [livejournal.com profile] selannia's first words were, "And that's what happens when the director gets final cut." ;) As for the look...I did miss the Bat Cave, now that I think of it. But rebuilding Wayne Manor will probably take quite a while after the events of the first movie, so yay for continuity.
I guess what made it great for me were all of the character moments. Christian Bale does the care-free, bachelor gazillionaire effortlessly. Like the scene where he pretended to run a red light in order to put himself between the Joker and the police van. He was really smooth there. And Heath, of course, was fantastic in every little way. I liked Maggie Gyllenhal much better as Rachel, although I didn't care much about her getting blown up. I'm more upset that they introduced Two Face and killed him off at the same time. He's a major villain, and he should have been able to come back again.
Anyway. It wasn't perfect. But I really loved it. :)

I rarely get restive watching a movie, but I sure did last night. I also don't usually go to movies so late on a work day, so that might have had something to do with it :)

I knew about Rachel weeks ago. Some doofus movie writer put that in his article about the movie.

Yeah, the scene where he ran the red light was very good.

Okay, see, I thought Two Face was a major villain too.

The Joker was amazingly well acted.

I liked the movie, it's just not in a fannish, 'I want to got see it again and write fic about it and join LJ comms' way :) I love dark and angsty, but it was the hopelessness of the whole thing that was the line between OMG! and 'that was a good movie' [g] If that makes sense...

It's funny, but I'm not actually fannish about a lot of things that I love. I wasn't really fannish about the first one, either, except for maybe one batch of icons. I really, really love several TV shows that I know have a fandom, but I don't go there. I think time has a lot to do with that, as in, I just don't have enough of it to spend checking out stuff in more fandoms. I only get fannish when I fall so in love with a show and/or its characters that I want to take them home and get intimate with them. :)

On another topic, how do you think Tony and Bruce would get along? ;)

BTW, amazon.com has Iron Man available for pre-order, but no release date is listed. I want my Iron Man. *pouts*

Excellent way to put it!

I heard that, what's that website called, the one that announces DVD news... well, whatever it's called, they said last week that it's due Sept. 30.

Nin and I had a long conversation about Tony and Bruce on the way home last night. Enough so I think it would be a good topic for an actual post.

As for how they'd get along... I'm not sure they would. As I said to Nin, if the Joker had killed Pepper, Tony would have killed him without any regret given the chance.

I'm going off the movies on this, since I know the basics of both set of comics, but just the basics...

I don't think they would get along. Bruce puts forth this air-head personality that would drive Tony bonkers.

As for their alter-egos? No again.

Iron Man may be angsty, but Batman broods. And, by that, I mean he broods. So much so, sometimes you want to hit him upside the head and tell him to go to therapy...

Batman doesn't kill. Iron Man does.

I can't remember where I read it, but someone talked about the difference between warriors and heroes. Heroes capture the bad guys and put them in jail. Warriors try to capture the bad guys to bring them to justice, but if worse comes to worse, they'll kill the bad guy so they can't get away.

And, I don't think a hero would be comfortable with a warrior.

"You killed him!"
"He was going to get away."
"You killed him!"
"If he had gotten away, a lot more people would've been killed."
"You killed him!"

etc...

Duh! Can't believe I missed a major point!

Bruce Wayne/Batman hates guns. Hates them with a fiery passion that burns in his soul.

Tony Stark/Ironman creates, sells, and uses guns.

Of course, that means major snarkiness when they meet... No! No! Shut up, brain!

The two of them meet at a charity ball or something. Everyone knows that Tony is Iron Man, but nobody knows Bruch is Batman. Does Tony know? Because a conversation between Batman and Iron Man would be much different than a conversation between Bruce and Tony.

Well, the two are in different universes... However, from what I've read (and I could be wrong), Batman's co-workers (some at least) in the Justice League know who he is. And the Justice League is the DC-verse version of the Marvel-verse Avengers.

So, it could be possible that if you merge the two universes, they do know who each other are. Tony is a big-wig in the Avengers, and Batman's a big-wig in the Justice league.

But, even if they don't, still... It would be cool.

Heh, I didn't read it, I'd quit reading American superhero books by the time it was finally finished and published, but Batman and Iron Man have worked together. The entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/JLA/Avengers) for the JLA/Avengers limited series over at wikipedia shows them right next to each other in the cast picture -- Image

Batman doesn't kill, but he will let someone die when he could save them. So I think he'd understand why Tony could kill someone, even though he'd be all growly about it being wrong.

I love the warriors and heroes analogy. And I agree, they probably wouldn't get along at all. But the conflict would be fantastic!

The conflict would be fun.

And, the snarkiness! Oh, the snarkiness!

Damn mind... It's plotting against me.
