A few months back, strangevisitor7 asked who my OFC Charlotte Sparrow looked like. I had no answer for her since my OCs just look like themselves in my mind's eye [g] Bu over the last few months, I'd noticed I used the icon on this post a lot when posting Charlotte stories. So I took a closer look at the original image, and discovered I had two pictures of the same woman from when I was collecting images for the vintage icons I did a while back. Apparently, she was an opera singer from the turn of the last century. So I figure these are as close as I get to what Charlotte looks like.


Though if you stick her married names on that it's Charlotte Amelia Black de la Fuente Sparrow.

I say I can see what draws Jack Sparrow, Methos, and Tony to her....that indefinable something in her eyes. (and the confidence in her poise - both poses)

Very cool! I'm slightly tempted to try to make the yellow dress...

Hmm...come to think of it, though, poufs on my hips isn't really the way to minimize them, is it? And that's a few more roses than I think I could stand.

Ok, maybe just the bodice then. It's cool! (Looks like some kind of superhero thing, doesn't it? *grin*)

Since she was an opera singer, I think the clothes in these reflect something along the lines of our celeb photo shoots.

I'd love to know who she really is. She's lovely ... and looks like she could have come from my mother's side of the family (especially in the picture on the left).

Interesting pictures. The one on the left of her on the table looks like a fantasy version of a 'peasant' dress, where the one on the right, well the bodice reminds me of the portrait of Madam X.


So, does Charlotte sing?

Not more than a properly brought up lady of her class [g] I think her piano playing is better.

She has a terrific face. I like the expression and the bone structure.

I cast my characters usually because it gives me a reference point. I realized that I see Jehanne in my head differently than I thought--she's a cross between Gabrielle Anwar and Genevieve Bujold. Jordan Connelly Bodie looks a little like Vanessa Redgrave and a little like Rene Russo, and Kate looks a little like Peta Wilson and a little like Traci Lords. I think it's due to the face that frequently I write because I can't draw.

Looking at the pictures again, I like them because they're animated. She isn't really just sitting there--she's responding to the camera. A difficult thing for the old pictures, since you had to hold a pose longer than you do today.

I know we've talked about this before, but the idea of using a photo of someone else as a template for an OC never occurred to me till I saw people doing it on LJ. In this particular case, it was sort of accidental :) And in my head, I'm still not really seeing the woman in the photos, but it's close enoughish to use as an example for readers. Or something like that!
