We saw it Monday night, but I feel like I missed something...


Both ninjababe and I had the same reaction at the end, when Rodney says he loves Keller: Did we miss something??? Where did that come from? I thought she and Ronon were sweet on each other? Huh?

That about sums it up [g] Now for me, Atlantis is, as I've mentioned to mischief5 a few times, a totally ship neutral show for me. There's isn't a single thing in the show to ping my admittedly underdeveloped ship muscle, but I would have thought I'd have picked up something! And since it wasn't just me, but Nin too, I figured I'd toss it out there.

Other than that though, I thought it was a very strong episode, and really let DH shine as an actor as well as being an excellent ensemble piece. Very well done.

Wasn't particularly angsty, or at least it dind't seem angsty to me. But your mileage may vary :)

...but it's been the word I've used for a while now - like when Elizabeth Cutler had feelings for Malcolm Reed while Malcolm/Hoshi Sato (Enterprise), or Miko having feelings for Rodney while Rodney/Weir (SGA)

they just put that it in there to cover the McSheppiness of the ep. or Rodney wasn't himself and loved her like a child loves anyone who helps them.

It has puzzled many fen. There are a number of theories out there trying to explain this puzzling end to the ep.

I just don't get/see the McShep thing, so I'm not sure why they think they need to have cover, but that's just me [g]

I cried so much in that episode
hmm yeah I think it must of grown over his illness, the way she was rewatching the clips of him again
but I guess he must have during the same time
I thought it was very sad and sweet and bless John and Ronan they were really emotional about it too x

There was that whole alternative future thing at the end of the last season, I suppose; but I personally was rooting for Ronan/Keller - because nothing says 'I love you' like making a bomb out of an oxygen tank together?

There have been tiny hints of Rodney/Keller since the beginning of season 5.

Ronon and Keller had a moment in season 4 and they actually had a little one in this ep once Ronon killed the parasite. I guess TPTB wanted to have a kind of love triangle tension going, although it seems clear that they are leaning more towards Rodney/Keller.

Well, those hints of something happening were really tiny, as in barely there. :P And it helped to have "The Last Man" (season 4 finale) in mind, as Rodney and Keller did get together in the alternate timeline and Sheppard refers to that obsurely (well, obscure for the other characters any way) at some point.

It's been hinted at, so while it was unexpected, I didn't find it too out of character. They went out for drinks after the "Trio" ep. In a subsequent ep, Keller was telling someone about Rodney talking to Carson in stasis, and she was musing about how he suprises her sometimes. In The Seed, when the wraith ship was growing out of her, he looked even more worried and freaked than usual, and more so about her than about what was happening to Atlantis. And it doesn't seem from what she said to Sam in Trio that anything else ever happened with Ronon, other than that one moment.

One can only hope that there have been many days and weeks in between episodes where they've been interacting, and Rodney's been falling in lurv, but we just haven't been seeing it.

It's been pointed out that McKay has a tendency to crush hard on women (Carter, Katie Brown, now Keller) without having a clue as to what to do about it. With Katie, all was going well until she saw the "real" McKay in Quarantine. Then they broke up and she transferred back to Earth. He has one beer with Keller and blows it all out of proportion. She even said that she was "so taken" by the new McKay that she missed the onset of his illness. As everyone knows, the "normal" McKay is not exactly socialized although he's getting better.

My take on the ending was Rodney with his guard down, talking about his crush, and Jennifer realizing that was all there was to it.

You and most of the fandom *g*.
Though, actually, if one compares with the backstory they failed to give to Rodney and Katie Brown, Rodney/Keller thing is established like an established thing :) At least they've had beer and some flirting together. And they are cute together, though I kind of resent the impression that they'll make Keller again like Rodney when he's not himself = less abrasive.
Contrary to the large part of fandom I actually like Keller as a character, though I'd love it if they'd pair her with Ronon, if they do have to go down the twitterpated road with someone.

I mean, I don't actually think that the likelihood of finding someone who actually likes Rodney as 100% Rodney, complete with the sharp edges, is less than the likelihood of travelling through Stargates to another Galaxy and fighting space vampires *g*.

People don't like Keller? Why not? I think I'm glad that I never got involved in Atlantis fandom the way I did in SG1 fandom since I'm always surprised to find out that the characters I really like are despised by fen at large.
