Do you think that Dr. Helm has a small stable attached to his home, or do you think he boards his horse at the town stable? We know he has a buggy and one horse, but I'm trying to decide where they 'live'.

attached to his home-he is a doctor and would probably need to get to people's homes as fast as possible at times. Also, say he had to bring a patient to his office-it wouldn't make sense for him to drive them to his home/office but then later have to bring them back/make the horses hang around until he was done

You were perfectly understandable :)

well good.

But now I wonder, why didn't we see more (any) of his house? I recall seeing the front and back room of where he worked but not really his living space...unless you count the time in the bathtub ha

Probably because there was no need to. But I gave him a proper house for fic. Offices in front, private rooms behind with a courtyard and their own entrance.

but I wanna SEE it! We should of gotten to see where he lives, then again I think they wanted to make him seem sort of mysterious so...

Yeah, but they're not going to spend money building a set that has no use. So I'm just going by the Spanish homes here in Monterey that date from that era. The ones that were store fronts had family quarters behind, courtyard, garden, well, and stables.

oh, I know logically there was no reason for it but it just would have been nice to see how the good-although be it somewhat smartassed-doctor lived.

Yeah, it would have been nice, that's for sure :)

well, since he's also Montoya's doctor, he can probably get any nearby soldier* to take the horse back for him.

aside from that, I agree with you. (though he'd have to hire someone to clean the stable and care for the horse)

* = who isn't on duty, chasing The Queen, or being beaten up.

that is a very good point indeed! I did think that he could/would have somebody to take them back but it still seems like more trouble.

With him being the doctor I would think he'd have a small stable attached to the house. Someone would need to help look after it though, I don't think a doctor would have the time to deal with his horse as well as his patients.

I'll do it!

Oh my god, she should write me into the story as his groom.
