They have a collar on him! I've never had a kitty sent back from being neutered that way. Supposedly, he's supposed to wear it for a week! And they say he'll be sleepy and lethargic for several days. Did they tell him that?! He's been hyper and keeps pulling the damn collar off!! And we're supposed to not let him jump up on furniture for a week. Say what? How exactly are we to manage that? And he has an eye infection, so on top of ten days of antibiotics, he needs eye meds three times a day.

This is going to be a looooong week.

It's *very* good to hear he's doing well. I know how stressful it can be.

As for a collar? That's very odd. When my boys were neutered a few months ago, they returned home without a collar and only slightly groggy. By evening, they were happily eating and playing. The next day, you'd never have known they'd had an operation!

And the only advice I was given was to keep them indoors for a week. We did have post op checks on the 2nd , 4th and 7th days -- but all was well. In fact, my vet didn't even use stitches; because of the minor nature of the surgery, her current preference is to allow the incision to heal on its own. She just told me to watch for excessive licking!!

Quite a variety of opinions amongst vets by the sounds of it.
