ithildin: (Mag 7 - Seven)
I rarely read fanfic anymore, other than a few stories here and there. Every so often, I'll get the bug in a new fandom and go through a few weeks of mainlining the fic, then I just stop. That happened with Iron Man. Since discovering Magnificent Seven, I seem to be breaking the pattern. It's been several months, and I'm still reading the fic! Currently, I'm working my way through a 158 part story called 'When Shadows Fall'. What's awesome is that there is so much great gen fic, even though it's a big slash fandom. And so much of it is well written. And I think the variety helps; there's the Old West fic, and then there's the AU ATF modern day fic. I've never been much of a fan of AUs, so that's a pattern breaker too. There are other AUs in the fandom, but so far, only the ATF has attracted me. Not a fan of kiddie AUs, I'm afraid. And lots of great humour pieces in both universes to go along with the angst.

Thank you [livejournal.com profile] strangevisitor7, for getting me into this fandom!! I've been having so much fun!

Thought you should know you have contaminated me with the mag 7 bug too. The fact that I have spent all my money on mag7 DVD boxsets and all my time this week reading fanfic is totally and completely your fault :-) I had never even heard of a TV series of it until you started talking about it. Not sure if I should thank you or pout.

I love the ATF stuff too, they seem like such a nice open fandom. (Must resist urge to start writing another story I will never finish), I love the way the fans have taken on and shared AUs and built a whole new fandom around it. They do have some really great gen stuff don't they, which is strange for a series where the most interesting female character is a main character's mother (Got to love Maude).

I'm sure the eye candy didn't hurt either :-). I now have a stuid fangirl crush on Eric Close (who before I barely even noticed on the couple of occasions I watched 'without a trace').

It's your fault too you know, with those intriguing highlander crossovers, FORCING me to watch the entire Mag 7 series so I could understand (I'm only half way through the second series though).

LOL - happy to take the blame - Yes Eric Close had me watching WaT on occasion but he looks so much better as Vin with the hair and the gun and... whoops drifted off there. Yes Mag7 is full of very nice eye candy.

Also I am very glad you enjoyed the stories enough to investigate the show.
