I do like this episode a lot. The JD and Buck show is always entertaining. We learn a lot about Buck in this episode that makes his womanizing seem more sympathetic. He would never do anything to hurt women and is the first to defend them.

I like that Nathan and Ezra have their conflicts – they should given their backgrounds - but Nathan is wrong. Not that what Ezra is offering is ideal but I don't see Nathan suggesting anything better. Plus Buck is helping, given his first hand knowledge of what these women go through his tacit support of Ezra's plan is proof that it is better than the alternative. Ezra is trying to make a buck that's true but arranged marriage is still very much a practiced traditional at that time – so I don't see a problem as long as the women have right of refusal if they don't like the guy. You have to pay the Yenta so Ezra making a commission doesn’t really bother me either. But this is the 1800's and it's not like these women have a whole of of otions to be doctors, lawyers even teachers

Mary is very OOC in this episode for me. She never showed this kind of uppity snootiness and given that she lives in a town full of lawless men it seems odd. I'm glad they "teach her a lesson" and we never see this side of Mary again.

The dress is hilarious and it is fun to see Ezra go "undercover". The moment when he adjusts his fake boobs cracks me up every time.

haha i love the boobie adjustment too!

but i always wonder about this episode...
did ezra ride back to town on a horse, on his own? cuz i can imagine him riding in being quite interesting.

but i have to admit, i do hate the whole purple dress thing. i think it's quite funny, but almost a little... hokey?

i do love the ezra nathan scene. ezra just looks so enraged, but in control at the same time, and i love a riled nathan. but i wish there had been further scenes between the two, or that this scene wasn't so short. that would have been very interesting to see.

i also see an interesting comparison between buck and ezra in this ep. even though ezra seems to be working an angle, he treats the women in a most gentlemanly way. and buck also cares about their well being. i shall think on this some more...

and yes, mary bothered me. i understand the initial concern about the women coming to the town, knowing their profession, but she should have gotten over it once they realized that the women were being abused and treated quite badly. i don't understand why she couldn't get over it for such a long time. she even gave nora a kind of look when she brought nathan food and he said to give it to her. i wanted a cat fight out of it, i guess. i would have slapped her myself.

that's all i got for now, maybe more later (i'm at work and have to look busy...)
