Heaven, I'm in Heaven, And my heart beats so that I can hardly speak; And I seem to find the happiness I seek, when we're out together dancing, cheek to cheek.

Thanks to [livejournal.com profile] mhalachaiswords, I've discovered Max Raabe!

Check this out. Just so perfect!

I haven't seen Neverwhere since it first aired years back, so I can't recall the song [g]

The Angel Islington sang it at the end of an episode. *shudder*

WOW. Thanks for letting me know about Max.

His covers of "more current" music are hilarious.
Tainted Love. Uptown Girl. We Will Rock You.

It looks like "Heute Nacht Oder Nie" is a good collection of the more 1920's works.

That's the one I bought!

cf. http://www.palastorchester.de/en/home/

Looks like the album you bought is their Carnegie Hall performance "Tonight or Never".

I must get a copy of their DVD "Live in der Berliner Waldbühne"

Max' page on Wiki gives his b'day as 12 Dec 1962.

The creation of the Palast Orchester reminds me of David Byrne and Talking Heads ... another group of art students that formed a band ... all be it with slightly different musical goals.

They've got a Christmas Album from 2002 "Vom Himmel hoch" (http://www.amazon.de/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00006OA2T/palastorchest-21). Check out the songs.

love it! I hadn't seen his non-pop-cover stuff, but this is just gorgeous. I've been listening to it all day at work :)

I got their live at Carnegie Hall album of iTunes last night. I love it! I adore music from that era.

Wow, that guy's a giraffe! I've never seen a guy with a neck that long! His voice is cool though. LOL Some of his covers are very interesting. Too bad a lot of his stuff is in German. Thanks for posting!
