Since I couldn't come up with five for her first choice, [livejournal.com profile] grachonok picked a new one.

Top 5 things you want to strangle canon authors for?

1: The three Star Wars prequels. Totally ruined something I'd been so eagerly looking forward to since the day Return of the Jedi came out. I try and ignore their existence at this point [g]

2: Methos never having a steady love interest. He had 68 wives and they can't come up with something? Yes, I know the show was called 'Highlander' and Duncan was always going to get the romance, but doesn't mean I wouldn't have liked them to have done a little something in that regard.

3: Taking a character I admired like Marion Ravenwood and turning her into the sort of woman who would deny her son his father. That really ticked me off. All so we could have the cliche of the 'son he never knew he had'. Pffft!

4: 'Serpents'! That episode just makes me batty. Everyone is very OOC IMHO. I could see it if the episode had come at the beginning of the series, but not the last episode before the end of the series. You have to wonder why Ezra would put up with that sort of crap from people who are supposedly his friends.

5: I had a five, but for the life of me, I can't remember what it was. Check back later [g] I remembered! Laurell Hamilton for taking one of my favourite characters, Anita Blake, and one of my favourite series, and turning her and it into something I don't even want to read anymore.

Okay, people keep asking the nonshippy person the shippy questions!

[livejournal.com profile] jinxed_wood asked for Top five fannish kisses

I can't think of five! I have one, well it's two, though in the same movie. Han and Leia in 'The Empire Strikes Back'. So if you want me to do five other things, let me know.

Top Five non-canon couples was [livejournal.com profile] shadadukal's request. With a shout out to [livejournal.com profile] amonitrate

1: Tony Stark/Pepper Potts - I suppose this one you might need an explanation for. I adore the idea of Tony/Pepper, and it's one of my few 'ships', but it's an idea, not a reality since IM ends with nary a kiss or any prospect of them ever being together.

2: Dana Scully/Walter Skinner

3: A.J./Mac (JAG)

4: Hermione/Snape

5: Gregory House/Alison Cameron

[Pouts] No fair!

Okay, how about this one? What are your top five dramatic death scenes! (You're going to end up hating me :-P)

Aww! Does that mean I should pick a third top 5 question?

Because I'm warped that way, I find death much more memorable than love [g]

Oh,oh, I got one - what are your top five favourite characters to write?

I don't care for the prequel movies either. There is one exception though: the music from Revenge of the Sith. I won't watch it, but I love the soundtrack.

What's wrong with Anita Blake now? I'm only on book six or seven.

Narcissus In Chains is where she really started to lose me, but I plugged along till Incubus Dream, hoping that things would improve. They didn't. That's the last one I read.

Pretty much anything to try and explain would spoil upcoming books for you. Let's just say I got tired of Anita having sex with anything that so much as moved. If you took out the sex scenes, you'd be lucky to be left with a novella.

I kept on - the last couple have started edging back into having an actual plot :)

The newest one was a real test - it's got Edward in it - and as I wrote in my review over at [livejournal.com profile] otterevilreads, if Anita and Edward had had sex, I was going to give up plus selling/donating all the books I own. But they didn't, so I'll continue reading :) (I think that's vague enough with no real spoilers)

Edward should get his own books. He's such a badass =D

Yes, he should.

Me and my Mom totally agree that the last book was much more like back in the beginning, with actual plot and police action and less sex (not no sex though, lol). I agree that you ought to try it.

I love Edward. What's that say about me that I love the sociopathic killer?

Yeah, I guess I can see your point there, especially since it took almost six whole books to finally get it on with Jean Claude. I wish I had money to get the ones after The Killing Dance *sigh*

Believe it or not, LKH used to have trouble wrting sex scenes. I guess she overcompensated.

Totally agree with 1 and 3 of the first list. JFC. I hate George Lucas so much for what he did to that series. And, like you, deny the existence of the first three cinematic abortions movies.

And making Marion into a damsel in distress for the last Indiana Jones movie {which I barely recognise as anything worthwhile anyway} was a douche move too.

Re: #5 - Wordy McWorderson. With me, it's gotten to the point where I was so turned off the later AB books that I can't even bear to go back to my AB fics, because the character I wrote is just so different from what she's become in the books. Sigh.

I maintain that this is canon. But the writers went ego mad, and listened to the most vocal fans.
But I'd bet even money that Huhg Laurie and Jennifer Morrison would prefer this to happen over their current storylines, but they are both too nice to say anything to the writers.

Re: star wars - I consider the 3 prequels as AUs, almost a fandom of its own. I like them in their own rights, but they do piss me off muchly when I think of them along with the originals.

Oh, oh! I totally agree about the 'Serpents' episode in Mag7 too. I have no clue why Ez would stick around if things were really like that all the time, hell just once would have been enough for me to leave too.

Re: Anita Blake. I still read them, but I too miss how the first books were, and think all the sex is more than a bit much (not that I'm a prude or anything but come on! though I guess if she's a succubus it makes sense). But the latest book had plot and police action, it was very nice, and Edward was in it (yays!) you ought to try it.

Yeah, if I think of them in conjunction with the originals three, I get *very* ranty! I scare people! [g]

Ezra isn't a masochist, but he sure would be if that's really how they thought of him and he stuck around for it. Bad other six!

There's just so much totally gratuitous sex, it's mind numbing, not erotic. Nope, not going to be Charlie Brown to her Lucy and the football - not even for Edward [g]

Awe, poor Edward is sad :(

*LJ finally let me in, couldn't post a single comment yesterday evening, felt myself crippled:)*

1 - Oh yes. Though I can tolerate the first two, the third one...Grrrr. My best friend says, that Lucas must have sold himself to the Empire to make that...

3 and 5 - not familiar with this universes, but totally understand the idea. Had similiar experiences myself, when in the long series characters suddenly lose all their charm and go crazy...

and 4, too...

Though Season 6 of the Highlander would top my own list:)

1- of course, he sold! The SW prequels are dreadful, especially the third one!

What can you say about a guy who ignores his OWN CANON?? GRRR!!! [deep breath]

You're right on the sWars prequels. There were much better ways to handle the motivation for Anakin's fall. But with a better actor and better dialogue, Lucas might have been able to pull it off.

Some things he doesn't do well. Motivation is one of them.
