Looks like we've collected another stray. He looks to be about 6-8 months, and is the same black and white colouring as Skye, except his nose is pink. We bonded over the weekend despite my best efforts to be strong. Okay, maybe I didn't put too much effort into it. Naming him Lewis in keeping with the whole Scottish island thing we started with Islay and Skye. The icon is in his honour [g]

Oh, and a Caprica question since my memory of BSG is hazy at best.
I'm confused. If the Cylons were only invented 58 years before BSG starts, then how were the five secret Cylons on BSG (I think it was five) so old? I either missed something or forgot something.


My finger lost a battle with a serrated bread knife yesterday. Not bad enough for stitches, but bad enough.

Okay, so you're the person I'm having sympathy dreams with. The Welshman and I were living someplace completely different from our place, sharing it with others and there were cats galore outside. We'd adopted a mommy kitty with a litter and had our three adults plus a few more. Everyone but the mom was spayed or neutered and I was talking about how the cat population seemed to be growing outside the house we lived in and how we needed to capture them to fix them. It was a strange dream in many, many ways.

the Final Five probably weren't born and growing up like humans (that would defeat the purpose of Hera)....probably their memories only started when they found a niche in society to take (with before-then memories so there's be no "hey, i wonder if i'm a cylon" thoughts)

They were kind of hazy about the old Cylons. It somehow ties into "all this has happened before" nonsense -- there were originally Cylons way back however many thousands of years ago on the first Earth, the one that was all destroyed and radiated and all that. Then everything went to shit and the tech was destroyed, except somehow those 5 made it so they'd be remade as the new Cylons or something.

And then, 58 years before the BSG series started, they'd finally gotten back around to developing the technology again.

idk, BSG kind of murdered the plot in the final season. I haven't watched Caprica yet because I want to know if it's any good first.

As for the Cylon question - I thought the 5 were ancient, too! The whole premise makes no sense to me at all so I stopped watching. But Hubby is sure they will explain the time line discrepancy - I didn't like BSG enough to wait it out.

My understanding of the 5 cylons was that they were originally from ancient times. It was their know-how that helped rebuild the cylons this time around (ie what should be the Caprica storyline). But I got a little confused over whether they were still the same ancient cylons or if they were remade by the new cylons who knew about them. Either way their memories of a real life were fake.
