'A Good Man' (01/01)
Apr. 29th, 2012 12:36 pmI've been wanting to write this for a while now, and decided if I'm going to do it, it needs to be before Avengers is released, because then, I'm sure, it'll be totally ruined [g] One of the things I'm hoping for in the movie, is them dealing in some way with Steve's friend Howard Stark, and the very different man that was Tony's father. This is my take on that.
Fandoms: Marvel Movies: Captain America, Iron Man
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings/Notes: Complete, pre-friendship, Steve Rogers & Tony Stark.
Character(s): Steve Rogers, Tony Stark.
Summary: Steve attempts to deal with the ghosts of the past - both for himself and for Tony.
A Good Man
"Howard Stark was a good man," Steve said, trying to connect with that man's son, nearly seventy years later.
Tony laughed harshly. "Yeah? He might have been a good man, but he was a hell of a bad father!"
( Steve tried to interrupt, but seeing the obvious pain in Tony's eyes, the words died on his lips. He didn't know why it was so important to get Tony to accept that Howard Stark was a man worthy of a son's pride. But he'd felt like he owed it to Howard, owed it to Tony. )
