Just saw an advert during Psych for a new series called 'Nikita'. Are we doing it again? What is it so far, two movies and a TV series? Anyone know anything about this most recent incarnation?
Heh, while I liked the lady that played Nikita in the original French, I didn't much care for the movie overall. I liked the American movie just because it had Gabriel Byrne in it. What I really loved was the first TV series. I haven't seen anything about this second one that's made me feel like checking it out. Of course people have been talking about it reminding them of Dollhouse and I couldn't get into that so...
I thought Anne Parillaud was great in the original, and it also had Jeanne Moreau, Jean Reno, and Tchéky Karyo! I also was lucky enough to see the original on the big screen (totally showing my age here :-P) and all I can say is that kicked arse, especially the restaurant scene.
I love Gabriel Byrne, but I don't think the US version of the character of Michael had the same amount of sleazy inner conflict Tchéky's version had. What can I say? I like 'em pervy!
I watched the new TV version today, and all I can say is: that's not frigging Michael! Was the other TV Michael this unambigious? I'm now getting curious.

I own Anne as a vampire in Innocent Blood and as Queen Anne in The Man in the Iron Mask. I'm not fond of subtitles, I watch anime dubbed when I can, and the only movies that I actually own and watch subbed are Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon and Hero. I wouldn't even have given the original Nikita, being in French with subtitles, a try if I wasn't a fan of Anne's.
...it also had Jeanne Moreau, Jean Reno, and Tchéky Karyo!
I don't much care about Jeanne Moreau or Tchéky Karyo. I like Jean Reno, but I prefer him in The Professional and Ronin.

I prefer Byrne's version to Karyo's, but my true love is reserved for Roy Dupuis' Michael in the USA series. He was fantastic!
I watched the new TV version today...
I didn't bother.
Was the other TV Michael this unambigious?
While I wouldn't call Roy's Michael sleazy/pervy I sure as HELL would never call him unambiguous. He was thoroughly complicated. I didn't bother to watch the new series debut in part because I saw someone excited about the new Nikita knocking the original TV series and Alias while talking the new series up. If fans of the new series have no respect for those shows I can't have any respect for their taste.
