I offered.

[livejournal.com profile] ninjababe is a huge X Men fan, in fact, it was how we 'met' - she asked me to beta an XM/Forever Knight fic of hers. At that point, I knew nothing abut XM, but sure, why not? Fast forward to today, we never went to see the latest movie, and I noticed it was on PPV last night, so asked if she's like to watch it, and she said no, not right now, maybe some other day. Even with the added bonus of the guy from HEX being in it. I was even going to watch it without a trade!

Basically, the first X-Men movie didn't wow me enough, and the second... Eh...

Didn't even try the third.

Granted, Wolverine was of the awesome.

Someday, I'll get to first class... Someday.

But, it is kind sad that I don't feel the need to watch it, even without a trade. I'd rather rewatch Gilmore Girls.

Even with the guy from HEX in it.

Heh, I said, "The first two, which are the ones directed by Bryan Singer are okay in my book, not good, or great, but... adequate."

Didn't even try the third.

Don't ever waste your time on it. I know people who hate Brett Ratner based solely on his having directed that. He earned some forgiveness for my having wasted time on it with the short lived CBS series he did called CHAOS, but my advice is still to stay far away from Three.

Granted, Wolverine was of the awesome.

Part of the problem I have with film!Wolverine is getting past Hugh Jackman being far too tall and too pretty to be the Wolverine I loved in the comic books. I'd have an easier time believing in Hugh Jackman as Gambit than Wolverine. Another problem for me, and a big one in particular for the first Wolverine film, is how much the movies highlight how many damn times Wolverine's back-story has gotten retconned. Still, I'll probably watch the next Wolverine movie when they get it out.

Someday, I'll get to first class... Someday.

I hope so. It really is my favorite of the X-Men films so far. I think if I had to rank all of them I'd go...

1. X-Men: First Class
2. X-Men Origins: Wolverine
3. X-Men
4. X2
5. X-Men: The Last Stand

Which is to say, apart from the first Bryan Singer film which I will at least give 3rd place to, I'd say the best X-Men movies are the ones the furthest removed from Singer's films. Wolverine was directed by Gavin Hood and X-Men: First Class by Matthew Vaughn. Those are the good movies in my book.

But, it is kind sad that I don't feel the need to watch it, even without a trade.

I think that's more than "kind" of sad. :(

Even with the guy from HEX in it.

I've never watched HEX. I'm still not sure, for all I've come to love Michael Fassbender, if I ever will. I am certain that a great deal of XM:FC's greatness rests on his shoulders. I know neither James McAvoy nor he are going to win any awards for their performances in the film, it's just not that kind of film, but they both show how great they are in it. I knew James was great so there was no surprise there. I hadn't seen Michael before though, and he got to the Magneto I loved as a kid so well that he made me cry more than once. I hope he does get an Oscar nomination for one of the Oscar bait movies he does have out this fall. He deserves it.
