I'm wondering if I'm reaching the place with Highlander that I reached with Forever Knight a few years ago - a place I'll always have fond memories of, but have moved on from. Sad part is, nothing is really around to replace that one time all consuming love. There's definitely less and less interest out there in Highlander, and it's kind of hard to maintain enthusiasm when you're writing. I'm not sure what to do about the series I currently write in, maybe it's time to just retire it, I don't know. Or maybe this is all just work/home stress related that may pass over time, leaving me feeling more like myself. But right now, I just can't seem to work up any sort ra ra ra for it at all.

In terms of producing fannish material, rather than just watching passively, Highlander and Doctor Who are my two great loves, but the fevered outpourings I used to produce when I was in the throes of first love have definitely petered off. I kind of miss it and I really wish I could kickstart my muse into overdrive again! It's hard, thought, to pin down what brings out the fanfic writer in me.

The one thing I can pin down is what doesn't make me fannish - the lack of a strong female character with thir own agency. So, straight off the bat, Supernatural never was going to do it for me despite the fact it's good TV but I love Sanctuary, despite all its faults and Fringe is a thing of pleasure for me, because it has the double whammy of a good script and a wonderful female central character!

And rambling comment is rambling!

I have no idea what makes me fannish enough about something to actually write fic. I can't really think of a show currently airing on TV that I have the urge to write fic for. I did dabble in White Collar and a very small dabble of Lost girl at one point, but that's about it.
