Sign of the Future Internet?

I never thought Twitter would become the place online where I have the most interaction with people. LJ seems to be fading away, and everyone has moved on to other internet locales. Since I don't do Facebook, I guess it's me and Twitter - at least till something else presents itself! Which I hope it does not too far in the future.

This isn't recent, this has been going on for months. Like I said, maybe it's me. If no one else has noticed, it probably is.

The DDoS attacks have been regular, and also going on for months. The Russian political bloggers are the target, but the DDoS attacks influence us all. People are fed up and moving on to different platforms. If I had to move completely, I'd prefer Dreamwidth over Twitter, but I'm hoping it won't come to that.

As for me, my life as been beset with such disasters that my usage of anything online has really dwindled. I have failed to keep up with NaBloPoMo, filled very few entries on my Mag7 Bingo card, and am already wondering will I be able to do a decent job on my Mag7 Big bang artwork. I haven't read a Mag7 fanfic in months, and only several in the Thor fandom, but only because it's so new and exciting, and because I sacrificed a couple of hours of sleep for it. I'm hoping things will calm down for me somewhat over the winter holidays, when I will be able to catch up.

The same. I'm still on meds, which aren't very easy on my stomach but I don't have the severe reactions I was worried about. In ten days I have another checkup, and more x-rays. We'll see how it goes from there.

That's right. This morning I tried to comment on two ljs and couldn't because LJ was down again. So I just went to bed and forgot about it.

[knock wood] the last DOS attack, I couldn't get on for days, but this one, I have yet to have a problem. Weird.

Call me paranoid, but the recent wave of attacks is probably connected with elections here (in Russia), so there is a hope things will come down - the elections are today.

There was a comment on Dreamwidth recently about all the trouble Russian bloggers go through because they're using LJ as a political platform. There was a mention of deliberate targeting and attempts to reveal the identities of bloggers, as well as cases of online bullying and threats. So even though it annoys me a great deal, I can live with LJ being down while people are trying to deal with that.

You're not paranoid. The attacks have been reported here in the news. I hope things get better there :(

I hope, too - after all, in the first time in years people actually went and voted... The results are still predictable and disgusting, but maybe it'll be a beginning... I'm not sure we could survive another revolution:(.
