You Can Call Me Ith

I've seen people around explaining their LJ ID. So since I appear to have nothing better to do currently, I'll explain mine! (try and contain your excitement) Ithidrial is Elvish from the Lord of the Rings, and is my backup name, one I actually created for a fic I write in my head to entertain myself when I'm bored (there's the LotR one and the Stargate/Highlander/Pirates of the Caribbean one) (does anyone else 'write' mental fic?). My real online identity is Ithildin, which I've been since 1995, and before the Lord of the Rings movies came out, no one else was ever Ithildin but me! Of course, that's no longer true -- and it vexes us, precious, it does! -- so I usually have to have a fallback position, and that's Ithidrial. Since most of my friends call me 'Ith' it has the most important component :) I prefer it to being Ithildin482 or some such. I don't like being a number. Go figure. So there you have it. Thrilling, no?

I remember Ith, aka IRC foreverknight channel mod. Oh, the early days of the Internet :P Wow, we've known each other a LONG time.... I might even have some old logs, if my very old PC still boots...

I do that all the time, usually if I'm having a particularly difficult time falling asleep at night. Sometimes it leads to interesting dreams...

I shall chime in too. I do it all the time, while gardening, doing house work, on long drives, (not when I'm driving, that would be silly), when I can't fall asleep. I do it so often, sometimes, my family wonders where I am.

*blush* I have been known to think fic while riding. Naughty really, but it only happens when the road is so perfect that I'm practically squeeing in my helmet. I've never typed it up though.. doesn't sound/feel the same afterwards.

Yeah, this will never be written either. There's actually a section in my HL/SG1/POTC story I think would be great, but it would require writing the years of stuff that came before :)

Mindfic is mindfic. Mostly, mine's pretty crack. All the stuff I'd never do in 'serious' fanfic I do in mindfic.

Hee. I didn't read the LotR series until, say, 2002/2003 or so, and so when I finally got to the ithildin--well, how much giggling did I do at not having recognized where your nick came from?

I didn't read the series 'til I heard they were making a movie of the trilogy. I'd read Fellowship in high school, but got bored partway through The Two Towers and never finished it.
