First Time Ever

I ran into somebody I don't know using one of my icons, as her default actually, which is cool. I didn't realize some of my icons had drifted out to third and fourth generation users [g] However, I went to her LJ, and come to find she hasn't credited me, or anyone else, whose icons she's using. So I'm wondering if I should pass on to her that it's good LJ netiquette to credit icons or not? It's not a big deal, just wondering since I've never run into the situation before.

I never care much about credit, because often things get passed on/saved without remembering who they were by.

But, weirdly? I came across an RPer on Greatestjournal, of all places, using the icon I'm commenting with for her RPed Illyria journal. Now, I have an Illyria RP journal myself over at perfectblue, but she didn't use any of THOSE icons. Just this one, which I only use for me. And she had me credited. I thought it was so odd, because I rarely use it outside my journal.
