(this isn't a Santa Claus moment, is it?)
Let's say Immortals were real, and you met one, and you found out what they were, and they were hot. Well, okay, not necessarily hot, but you found them attractive, and this is a fantasy, so...
Would you actually want to be involved with one? And by involved, we can go with boyfriend/girlfriend, husband/wife, generic lover. Whatever [g] Pick what works for you.
A simple 'yes', 'no', or 'it depends' will suffice, but it would be fun to hear the reasoning behind your answer.

Sorry for being wordy.

Date: 2007-06-26 09:05 pm (UTC)From:Difficult question, though. It's like the flip (or perhaps the complimentary?) side to the question - 'Would you get involved with someone who you knew was going to die in six months?'.
Wow, I'm just reeling in those happy chirpy thoughts today...

Date: 2007-06-26 10:45 pm (UTC)From:Because one of two things would happen. Either I would get old and die while the immortal stayed the same, or one day the immortal just wouldn't come home, no warning, no way to prepare (and yeah, I know anybody could get hit by a bus or whatever, but it's still not the same when you expect the person to live "forever")

Date: 2007-06-26 11:57 pm (UTC)From:It's kind of what Nat told Nick in FK, in 'Fever', that one day she was afraid she'd be like Tracy, with no one to share her grief with. If you were married/involved with an immortal, and they never came home, you'd really have no one you could ever talk to.
I'm such a cheery soul!

*shrugs* I guess it would just have to be one of those things that I'd have to actually experience to know what I would do.

Date: 2007-06-27 04:14 am (UTC)From:Oh Hell yes! Er, to enthusiastic? A simple yes. Well, I should say that's based on your saying, "Pick what works for you."
If I knew fully not just what he was, but what his life was like, and he was willing to commit to me for as long as I'd live, then most definitely. I wouldn't be scared of his being part of the Game. I wouldn't get jealous of his staying young while I got old. I like to say I decided I didn't want kids when I was 6 after the second time I had to change the diaper on my Betsy Wetsy doll. I wouldn't be bothered by the not being able to have kids. I'd know that while he wasn't physically getting older he was spending years out of his life with me, as many or as few as we'd have together. "Twenty years. Six months. What's the difference," cuts both ways. If I outlived him I'd go on like the man that loved Rebecca, and if I died first I'd be content with being someone's, "Who would remember Alexa then?"

There's that fence sitting thing again!

I can definitely sign this...plus the 'walking history book' thingie... I guess I would be pretty fascinated by all the experience an Immortal would bring along (in many ways *g*)...and since I am not married: bring 'em on *lol* Seriously...I'd give it a shot...

Date: 2007-06-27 02:29 pm (UTC)From:However if i had all ready fallen or showed interest and the immortality of said hotty was found out post-smitten then i would have to say it would depend. If it's a fling then i doubt it would come up. If it was serious or turning toward the serious then we would have to sit down and have a long long long chat about things. This sort of relationship would be hard and difficult for both partners and probably require a lot more work than the average relationship (the kind that people work out and not run to get divorced over is what i'm talking about). Provided we were both willing to be open-minded and work things out and care very deeply I think it could work. It would just have that added strangeness or being married to an immortal.
Course maybe i could get him to teach me to sword fight :) BONUS!!
Yes!
Date: 2007-06-28 12:01 am (UTC)From:I know some people would find it difficult to get involved when there's no possibility of having children, etc, but that doesn't really bother me.
The chance to wake up next to Methos or Duncan would be worth it all. We only have one chance at this life (unless you believe in reincarnation) so we need to grab it with both hands and live it!!!!
Live, love and never regret...
