I Hate That

You just discover a product you really like, and when you got to buy more, find out it's been discontinued! Last year, at Bath & Body works, I bought a shower gel form a new line they were carrying, Aquatanica Spa. I really liked it it -- it had a fresh oceany sorta scent, made with seaweed and other sea type ingredients. I went to the website, and they've discontinued it! The bottle said it was a line from France, but it looks like it was actually made by B&B W since I can't find it anywhere else but on Ebay. I'm bummed. My favourite showergel by Aveda (sage and cedar), which I'd used for years, was discontinued last year, and this was what I'd replaced it with. To add insult to injury, the B&B site recommended I try instead one of their other lines, which they claim is similar, but it's almond scented! Bleah! Almonds do not smell like the ocean where I come from.

Twice a year, Bath and Body Works have sales where they bring back a lot of old discontinued stock. Once in January and once in I think July, and they run for the whole month. You should check during the next one to see if they have any of the gel for sale and stock up.

I seriously do hate that. It seems that if I like something, I can expect it to be discontinued too. Cody likes the TGY Friday chicken tenders. Sure enough, now we can't find them anywhere. I liked International Coffee Swiss White Chocolate - guess which flavor all stores here stopped carrying? My favorite mascara- no longer made. Blegh.

same thing happened with me and The Thyme's Fresh Basil perfume. It was a lovely, light, herbal scent, and they haven't replaced it with anything similar. I hate smelling like flowers, and their other stuff is too musky for me. Oh well...

Try this guy's scents (http://www.cbihateperfume.com/CBperfumeindex.html) I can't find my notes anywhere, but I got a sample pack from Luckyscent (http://www.luckyscent.com/shop/category.asp?section=1&categoryid=377) last year, and I know one of them was similar to what you describe. I think [g] . Most of what they sell you can get samples of.

This always happens to me! And I hate it as well. I still pout that the purse I carried for 15 years got discontinued and when I went to buy a new one I was SOL. Change sucks!

It's incredibly annoying to have to go find a new scent, when you've found one you like. I've had that happen with stuff I like, and the Welshman has suffered the same fate on a few things. It's the pits. *hugs*

This has just happened to me. I had a nasty bout of cellulitis and eczema last year, and In the Nude bath melt by Lush was just about the only thing my skin would tolerate in the bath (rose and camomile based). Went to lush about a week ago to stock up and they've discontinued it. I am not happy.

Lush do have discontinued stuff re-released quite often so I am hopeful.

Yeah, the only fragrance I like to wear is 4711 cologne and it is very hard to find.
It used to be available in England but last time my daughter asked she sent the shop assistant into nostalgia dream land as it is the stuff her Granny used to wear. My one stockist in France only gets two small shipments a year for the octogenarians I guess . I`ll just have to arm myself with a zimmer frame and beat them to it.

A friend of mine keeps buying me that -- I used to wear it in high school. It's not hard to get in the US, since Proctor & Gamble used to own the company, before selling it back to a German firm. Amazon.de (Germany) carries it, if that's any help.

It drives me crazy when that happens. My favorite Bath and Body Works scent (Juniper Breeze... yeah, yeah *g*) is no longer carried in the stores, so I have to get it from the Web site. It's convenient, but the shipping is really expensive.

Oh My God...my mom got me a "set" (candle/perfume) from QVC...I don't know...about 9-11 yrs ago called Mon Ange and when I ran out I went to reorder and can't find neither hide nor hare.....

WTF!! I still have the candle and it still has it's "smell"...this is how good it is!!

I hear you, and I completely agree.

My favourite shower-gel is gone too, and I haven't found something similar yet. Soft Soap's exfoliating gel. Great scent and I loved the way it cleaned.

And now, to add insult to injury, CK has discontinued their classic line in jeans. They've got courderoy's, stretch etc, jeans with patched holes, rhinestone pockets and the like, but not the classic five pocket.

That is so annoying. I hate it when it happens, and it's far too often for my taste.

The Body Shop has a Ocean line called Oceanus. I used the body lotion once and it really did smell like the ocean. I suppose the shower gel smells the same way.

This happens to me ALL the time! It doesn't matter what the product is, as soon as I start buying it on a regular basis, it gets discontinued. :P
