That's what it reminds me of! I've been pondering the new Star Trek and the age of the cast, and I finally realized what it is I'm reminded of: Baby Disney! Or Baby Looney Tunes. Either works. I'm not sure that's what they were going for, but that's in my brain now. Especially the guy playing Spock. Lord! Baby Trek, coming soon to a toy store near you.

How come Kirk is driving a car?! In 'A Piece of the Action' I'm pretty sure he doens't know how to drive a car. Unless the one he's driving in the preview is all automated, but it sure didn't seem like it.

Heh, as someone who hates the New BSG, and has mixed feelings about New Who I'm wary of a "re-imagining" of Star Trek. It's why I've been trying to keep up on the film's development. I'm still not sure how the story works, and I believe the story is what's key. How they're going to balance old and new is what I'm waiting to see. I mean it will have Zachary Quintos' Spock and Leonard Nemoy's Spock in it. There has to be an explanation for that.

I just tell myself it's gonna be like Young Indiana Jones. Just picture Leonard Nimoy's Spock, wrapped in a shawl with his teeth in a jar on a nearby table; the ancient and elderly Spock sits in his rocking chair, telling tall tales to young, wide-eyed Vulcans about his adventures with that (long since deceased) legendary Human, James T. Kirk.

So if you just accept that Spock is taking liberties with the truth ("You lied!" "I exaggerated.") to entertain gullible young Vulcans, it all makes sense. In other words, it's FANFIC. Written by one of the protagonists, yes, but still fanfic.
